I did one because I was bored. I basically have to run steelies on the back because my front tires were baaaald and the steelies I had to replace them temporarily wouldn't fit over the front brakes.
I'm not totally finished. I used some heavy duty auto paint stripper, then several increasing grit sandpaper until the final grit at 2000, then some metal polish. Wasn't too difficult and turned out fairly well.....it's a good 5 footer.

Dont some of the K cars (aries?) have some fairly shiny steel rims stock? (actually they are pretty dull I think). I used to drive one and I seem to remember this.

How much time into that project?

Well...most of the time spent was trying to sand the paint off before I used the stripper. I'd say maybe 4 hours starting with the stripper.....It's taken me 3 days of occasional lazy work to get it like that.

The paint was stripped off and the wheel polished.

Polished steel?

Better paint them or clear coat them ASAP or they will be rusty after the first humid day.

There were a couple dodge cars that came with the black steel looking wheels that were actually aluminum!

Yeah, I had them on my 2nd Shadow and my dad had them on his 87 Daytona. They were silver with triangular holes with black trim around them. They looked cast but they were stamped. They even had brushed chrome center hubs with exposed lung nuts to complete the look.
