AutoX last sunday...

I finally took my 1986 Dodge Omni GLH-Turbo to the track yesterday, first time i had it at an event in over 2 years... i was SUPER PLEASED with my results!!

I placed 11th overall, out of 45 cars. at the end of the day, during the fun runs, i shaved another 1+ seconds off my time, which would have been enough for 6th overall! I run in SM class. the biggest class! 21 cars. i took 5th i think overall in my class. LOTS of Evos, AWD DSMs, and Subies in this class. I was VERY happy with the new Koni Coilovers from FWD Performance and Hoosier race rubber. the car was solid throughout!

I ran heats 2&4, which got RAIN both time!! we only got 3-4 dry runs in, while both heats 1&3 got 7+ dry runs in!! so i figure if i had a little more dry runs, i could have done a little better overall. Anyways, i just wanted to share this with everyone, as i was really pleased with the results. especiially considering this is only my 5th or 6th event EVER. 2nd with this car ever... and that was 2yrs ago!

he let me take a fun run in it (I had to speet-test the window tint i did for him last week:eyebrows:) and oh boy... what a ride!!! makes me want to sell the Lexus sometimes... VERY fast car, in the turns, and on the straights. he was on street tires too to get FTD!!

check the cars that i was behind... not bad at all!!! mostly AWD cars with more power, and 20+ years newer! my 2 fun runs were 56.5xx (6th place) and 56.9xx (8th place) ha, wish i could have had those 2 runs when it counted!! owell.

next event, 3 weeks... gunning for top 10 for sure this time! i'll have power steering, which will help i'm sure. not to mention cornerweighted the car, and will mess around with the suspension settings this time.

Wow! Thats really cool! I also belong to fvscc! Havent been out yet-have to get the daytona together! My name is also Curt! Last event I was at was USA Raceway in Shawno, Wi for Lapping day, and the Club event was there a couple weeks b4 that.
Those are the only 2 I've been to so far, new to the Club this year! Nice times hope to get a chance to meet ya and see your car!:thumb:
