Is there a big difference between the two?
What kind of plugs do you guys have on your TIIIs?

FTW is internet speak meaning "for the win" as in Hollywood Squares.

Your going to have to start learning the internet lingo-lol, LMAO, etc, :eyebrows:

Yes, those are iridiums but if running close to stock boost levels, go with a BR6EIX or similiar. 9's are really cold.

What effect will running 9s now have?

And what wires do I match them up with?

Some say you get less mpg but I can't verify that.

You can use the wires you have now or buy some of mine as I feel mine are superior to Magnacores, ;)

I use iridiums in my T2. I know it's not a TIII, but they work great in my motor.

Plus, the MSD rep I talked to told me my ignition system would melt platinum plugs.

I highly recommend Denso iridium spark plugs, but be prepared to shell out about $50 for a set of 'em.

Overpriced, NGK's are almost identical, the average joe won't be able to tell the difference. BTW, retail on NGK's are $16 each and $40 each for Denso, around here, but then you price out life span, and there cheap,

NGK warehouse lists a BR9 and a BR9 solid. I can't find a description of the difference though...

I would bet solid is for race applications and would interfere with your computer, go with the non-solid.

What gap should I use on the NGK iridiums?

.035 or less?

Thanks...

If stock boost, try .035"

CaptMoe

What is stock?

The previous owner told me he had replaced the computer and when I really get into it the stock gauge gets pinned at 15psi. Does that sound like stock boost psi?

Stock is 11/12. I would try it anyhow, wider gap is better for mpg and driveability. If it starts to miss under boost, drop the gap a few thou and retry.

$40 a plug? $160 a set?

Man. that's as much as I paid for my engine! That better be some serious spark pluggin' horsepower!

Ok so if my gauge is hitting 15, he probably did change the PCM. He said he had installed an ND computer but couldn't remember what Stage it was, only that boost levels were raised to 17.

And if that's the case, then I need to replace the stock injectors with +20s.

I'll try them at .035, thanks Simon...

Ok, plugs were installed. They came gapped at .030 so I decided to try them there and not risk widening the gap and damaging one.

Result: engine started right up, idles so much smoother and overall just feels better than before.

Now all I need is to replace the wires...:eyebrows:

In case you guys didn't know, Advance Auto Parts is having a sale on Mobil 1: 5qts of oil and 1 filter for $27. I bought it for the car and a nice drain pan so I can change it myself and dump the oil at the local recycling center.

This is an in-store special so you won't find it advertised anywhere...

Well the wires are on the way, you should see them on Friday, airmail. :thumb:

I do find they idle smoother with Iridium plugs, :eyebrows:

go with RN9YC champions or BR9ES Ngks or GR4 or GR5 Ngks. stock plugs are too warm a colder plug is better, even on stock boost i ran 9YCs
