That would be about 99.9% of the folks on this forum. Your car is spectacular.:hail:

a huge puddle of oil trailing out the back would have been nice....at least most of us could understand it. But it still looks good without it.

Yeah, I didn't enjoy it at all.

If your car isn't the nicest GLHS (both years) in the world, then I'd love to see that car. :)

Looks good, one of my favorite 86 S-cars. Has it been in the car of the month running before? If not it should be...

I LOVE your car! I've seen pics of it before but now I have the opportunity to compliment it. You give all 86 GLHS owners something to strive for.

Wow, you gave us everything but the L-body money shot... A shine on the paint with the hatch up under its own power. That is THE pic you need to add to those. :thumb: Great work on then nicest L-body I think I have ever seen pics of.

Marcus that car is simply stunning and if it hasn't been in Hemmings it truly deserves to be.

Cordes, the only part that works on my ugly old Horizon are the hatch struts. I've owned the car 4 years now and they have always worked. lol I don't think new ones last that long!:thumb:

Awesome pics!!!

Only question --- did that radio come in the car when you bought it? Or do you just have it in there to enjoy CD"s while cruising?

Only question --- did that radio come in the car when you bought it? Or do you just have it in there to enjoy CD"s while cruising?Yes Mark, very nice & you'll have nice looking GLHS company next year!

On the radio, that's why I opted for the Infinity am/fm/cd/cass all in one deck.

Looks more oem, thieves don't go for oem decks anymore & they want either the high end decks or the whole car!

Before with stock non working deck:

Wow it still looks awesome after all the years you have owned it. How many miles are on it now? Did you polish your valve cover with a chrome finish? Ive never seen one of those look that shiny. Great looking car, I hope you never sell it.

Alright Marcus, you inspired me;) I am going to the Saturday morning car show in the morning and usually I just spritz of the dust with the detailer and roll:o But instead after seeing your pics from today, I spent 4 hours washing, waxing, and detailing:faint: Plus I had to put the DR tires on, a guy on the Team Shelby forum is talking smack and I *hope* he is meeting me there with his SC 427 Cobra... Did a little tuning too, first time I've run 22 PSI on this motor:eyebrows: Pretty sure I am at the limit of the TII rods:o

EDIT I am noticing my garage at midnight is not as picturesque as the front of your house:o

geez guys i am almost embarrased from all the kudos, thanks and it is appreciated very much. as i have said many times theres a lot of folks and their cars from this board who have inspired me to try to improve the looks and the performance of this car. if you saw it in person you would see the 21+ years worth of small scratches and swirls since most all of the paint on the car is original. so i know there are overall better 86S cars out there for sure. i am afraid to re-paint the entire car since if it did, knowing the way i am, i'd never drive it and i dont want to be one of those people. also, theres a guy in PA who is just finishing up his 86S that based on the pix i have seen will absolutley eclipse 99.99% of all the turbo mopars out there right now, anyone know his name i forgot.

on the valve cover: that is a powder coated one-piece v/c i bought from FWD Performance since the previous owner threw away the original part and stuck a Shelby cover from a 1987 GLHS on the car when i bought it.

car has about 38,900 miles on it now, so i have put 4,000 miles on it since 12/2001.

that's an Pioneer CD player you see it plugged right into the stock wiring and uses the stock attachement points so i went in with no mods to the dash or wires. i do like to listen to tunes when cruising. i have the original radio on the shelf.

the car will be up on jackstands this morning, all four wheels are headed out for restoration and then she will recieve new Goodyear Eagle GT tires in 205-50 all around I am ditching the drag radials since i only race at the track now (slicks).

on the way home from the cruise show last nite i got to toast an C4 LT1 vette, just a 1-2 gear short battle but what a way to make you smile! maybe i'll miss the DR's. but i dont like the way they look so they are out, then i can remove the front mudflaps that are only there cause those DR's pick up and throw rocks.

on my house you gotta be kidding me, i got the crumiest one on my street folks, have you driven around CT? omg there's million dollar houses everywhere.

Yeah but you and your home have a few thing those million dollar homes will never have. Character and lots more of it. Plus impeccable taste in fine automobiles capable of killing much more overpriced junk on the highway without trying. Its really great to see one of the S cars restored like that. This trend needs to follow as it seemed the restoration kick is lagging greatly in out generation. Even in the 80's you saw 70's musclecars getting restored like that. Well... come on guys.. its 2008 and those cars are from the 80's. Get my drift. Hence why I get all warm and fuzzy inside when I see something like this. Kudos to all you guys and gals for keeping your TM and making it nice any way you can.

WICKED like you said i also am hoping to see more of the 2.2L turbo mopars restored and not thrown away or butchered. one thing i have appreciated the most is the experienced people have provided us all with ways to make big increases in power w/o sacrificing the stock look, this is a big thing for our community and thats my favorite aspect of this hobby: being way too fast for the appearance.

BOZO thanks, my dog is great... he's only a litttle less than 5 months old but learning fast.

I have to compliment you. That is a beautiful car dude. Did you buy a new coolant overflow cap or touch it up with white paint. I've never seen one that nice and I have been looking at them on cars for years. (Yes, I am very particular and a neat freak)

I'm glad to see I am not the only one that uses a Mopar battery in my car.

Very nice though!

I now who you're talking about over there Alan...I had a feeling that was you... :thumb:
I can't WAIT to see those photos if the guy shows...you make certain you have someone snapping photos.
Everyone wants to know how that comes out...let me know if you'd like me to post them of Team Shelby, I'll take care of it.

He pulled a no-show but to be fair, he never actually said he would be there. I just thru out the invite because he called Dodge Shelby's junk. Odd that he is a former GLHS owner:confused2: I was ready for whatever he had, the DR's are black striping the road all the way thru 3rd:eyebrows: I tested the long freeway onramp I called him out on, it's good for 120MPH before a stab of the brakes because there is a little left hand kink before it joins the freeway.

Alan you gotta put up a pix of your 16 valve 87S engine bay. its running 22 psi?

Dan i got a long, long way to go with the work on my car to even get close to the quality of the restoration you did on your GLH, which has to be the nicest GLH resto i have seen anywhere.

the cap you asked about in an NOS one i picked up a few years ago, i had (2) but donated the other to Jim who was restoring his 86S engine bay.

the Holy Grail is to find a good battery case from 1984-1989 L-body...those would be white cases with black tops and two large raised rectangular vent caps, the current Mopar batteries are all black cases with flush vent caps. close but not perfect.

WickedShelby88
06-15-2008, 06:08 AM
Finding a wrecked car or something like it from that time would be key on that battery I would think.
There have been a few cases of some other makes I have seen like that but far and few between. I think that coolant overflow cap would be a rare find as well, but also something that might be already a repro or something that could be a group buy in NOS as I would think it would cover a lot of other models making it much more doable.
Right now I'm lucky if I have a running car lol, much less a nice restored example. Looking to eventually do an 88 CSX-T, but from the way my friend talks I may have an 88 baron GTC about to fall in my lap. No S car, but still kinda rare these days. I will believe it when I see it though.
Those pictures are great though and that is definitely some beautiful east coast weather. We got some weather like that yesterday.

Holy shoe-horn Alan, very nice engineering job you did on squeezing that 16 valver into an L-body but it looks almost like it came from the factory that way. has it ever made a pass at the track? if not it needs to asap.

Hey Alan, where did you get a header configuration like that? That looks like it has the potential to make some serious power especially since the outlet side on the exhaust housing isn't choked up by a swingvalve.
