I just picked one up and was wondering how you mounted the crank trigger and wheel on a 2.5 8valve engine. Any other information would be great too, thanks

if you're going to run a bosh motronic style trigger (36-1 or 60-2 teeth), you'll probably have to have you're pulley modified.

as i'm no longer using A/C, i had my UD pulley cut that it accepts a 60-2 trigger wheel

as you can see in this pic, i welded a little piece of metal to the oilpan, so i can mount my trigger sensor bracket.
then i used a regular magnetic sensor (in this case: audi abs sensor).

because i'm running sequential fuel injection i also needed a signal coming from the cam. i didn't want to modify my 8v head, because i want to go the 16v route next year, so i modified my distributor to give me the signal.
took everything out, had a little cam made which bolts onto the main shaft of the distributor. drilled a hole and mounted another magnetic sensor on it.

i don't have pics of distributor yet, but'll take some, as soon as i'm working on the car again.

if you have other questions, just let me know!

I am ditching the AC too and was looking at mounting the wheel like that. I can see why you went for the oil pan, there ain't much room around the crank pulley. Post your distributer pics, I would like to see that set up too.

so, here are the pics of my trigger setup with the sensors and brackets in place

60-2 trigger wheel, with sensor and bracket

here you can see how i modified my distributor...
every rotation of that cam, equals a rotation of the camshaft, so everytime the signal occurs, the standalone knows it has to start its fuel injection sequence.
haltech calls it home signal

hope this helps

nice job on the distributer, Electromotive also wants a home signal for sequential FI and that looks like the way to go. Electromotive also makes a 120-4 tooth wheel that can mount to the cam or distributer to simulate crank rotation. I'm leaning toward mounting that wheel on the cam button side of the cam, altho mounting it to the distributer would make for nice clean install.

best way, would be having the home signal coming directly from the camshaft. wouldn't be that hard to make it work, but i'll leave that for the neon head.
right now the distributor setup is ok...we'll see how it runs.
that stock 2.5 sbec II is/was awefull on the 2.2 motor....

what spark setup do you want to run?

I'm going to run the direct fire unit that comes with the system

good choice, i'm running wasted spark...it's still 1 coil per cylinder but 2 of them fire at the same time

Thats awesome Andreas! Do you notice a seat of the pants difference in response versus the original electronics? Also does it seems to get better fuel mileage?
