Anyone have info specific to the tranny they used on the 87 Shelby (Whittier) Chargers? a520's? a525's? a555's? Shop manual claims there was a tag on the top of the case but it appears to be missing--

Also, did the Whittier Chargers use a T1 or T2 style clutch? If T1, will a T2 bolt up ok with no mods?

Last, anyone parting one of these out in the Midwest area? Looking for some interior parts, and possibly the entire vehicle if it's mostly intact and moves.

Cool forum, like the USB interface project!

Welcome to the forum!!

The GLHS used the A525 transmission

I can't tell you what clutch they used, but I'm sure someone here can!

What parts in particular are you looking for? Many will interchange with other models.

525 is correct, and they used the same TI clutch as a Shelby Charger, that was not changed by Shelby's group.

The ID tag for the A-525 transmission is located on the differential cover. It was the later 520, 555, 523, and 568 transmissions that had the ID tag on the top of the casing.

Great--thanks for the warm welcome and the info.

I don't have the transmission apart as yet--first and second are not working--just doing research right now. My intent, prior to two weeks ago, was to pick up a good used transmission, but after visiting some of our local salvage yards I'm becoming more convinced to look for a good parts-car and scrap it out.

The interior of the car is pretty much the same as a omni/charger/turismo as long as its a gray interior. so if you can find any of those cars in the bone yard than you can just snag out the pieces you needed for a lot cheaper than buying a scrap car. unless you need to replace the CS seats than your gonna have some searching.
