anybody know if all the equal length axle set ups in the factory turbo cars use the same interediate axle? the one in my r/t is shot so i have a long shaft in for the moment. I know the 568 and 523 is the same. i was trying to figure out if the one from a 16V masi is the same. I know the input shafts are different. the intermediate axle doesnt go into the clutch so thats obviously not the question. i need to get a replacement and i wanted to know before i pull the parts pig apart if its worth the time as i see it has an equal length set up in the 16V masi also with an intermediate axle on the passenger side

because its not gonna last with 400WHP blasts at the track, its a toothpipe in comparsion to a factory turbo axle

87 + intermediate shaft are all the same.

^^ True, but I think I've seen Alan mention the Masi's had a specific axle setup for the 284 tranny (now if that means the int. shaft as well...). He would be the one to ask...

as far as i know all intermediate shafts are the same v6 or turbo 4 cylinder. there were different style mounts based on years made, but otherwise they are all the same and one of those and two drivers axles and your set. only possible differance would be if they made a small and large spline as far as i know they are all the same.

It doesn't matter what the car came with. Anyone making big power runs unequal axles. Running an intermediate setup runs the risk of more parts to break and inadvertantly cause damage to the engine block or trans for example.

I've seen 2 different lengths of intermediate shafts a couple times.

L body I shafts and early small spline trans I shafts (pre '87) are different...the rest are the same.

L bodies are shorter and use a unique bearing, cars are longer and vans are even longer but use the same bearing.
