I have access to a stock stage turbine housing, .63 a/r and as luck would have it, I have the FM elbow so installing it is cake. Is it worth it? Only mods are 2.5 inch cat back, large IC, maybe a cal, dialed stock cams.

Putting a .63 housing on my stock garret on my 8 valve was worth it. I can't imagine it not being worth it on a 16 valve.

What car?

What section are we in? ;)

Ok, I just never see anyone do it so curious, I guess if your going to fab stuff up, might as well get a new turbo, lol.

No, :p

What car would you put it on?

MP (Direct Connection even) used to sell the "Turbo Plus" kit which was basically a stock Garrett with the .63 A/r turbine housing. :thumb:

Well thats hard to say. I haven't been to a 1/4 mile in awhile since it's a bit of a trek for me but BEFORE I went to the TIII I did take it and was trapping 101 with huge traction problems AND shifting to 5th at the traps. My traps in the 1/8 on those runs were around 77mph. Now I'm running around 82mph on the makeshift 1/8 we have locally and I'm just starting to work the boost back up. The "proper" 1/8 is opening next weekend tho. I'm adding 2mph or so every time out though, so I'm gettin there. Hard to judge much on ET's with me though with running on 3 different tracks and all of them with the same crappy tires I've had since I bought the car :p I don't get past 9psi till 3rd just so I can not put em up in smoke! hahahaahha

Anywho, even on a slapped together combo I couldn't manage to trap less than 100 on 14 psi. Don't think you can say the same. and you can't use a poor choice in vehicle as an excuse :D

Definetely worth it. Mopar sold these as a "plus" turbo; one step under a Super 60. Do it.

I'm going to vote for sticking with the .48. Is this car a driver and going to keep reasonable boost levels? If so, keep the spool up up with smaller housing. Besides, the stock .48 turbo will get you well into the 12's even on a full weight R/T.

Mine was slapped together and yes, I am using the van as an excuse,

Interesting. It will be a DD and I think the larger housing will delay the insane power hit, maybe even saving fuel, :D

It will be maxed out at the track, :partywoot:

.48 TIII housing will do fine...

I'd go .63. I firmly (some say fanaticaly) believe that the exhaust side is our major bottleneck. Even with the .63 housing even the stock turbine wheel is a restriction.

I agree completely, but it depends on what you're after. If you're looking for a quick, low to mid 13 second driver that spools up nicely for stop light to stop light driving, it's hard to beat a stocker.
