I have an 88 T2 Daytona. It had the inverted torx screws in it. I used some standard 8mm screws but the heads are too big and are too close to the crank center bolt. Is the a smaller hex head bolt that will fit? I was thinking in 89 or so the bolts were different. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

'89 (common block) went to a hex bolt finally with *I think* a 13mm head, but I think that the crank pulley may have had a larger internal diameter, so that may be your problem. But not to worry, lots of people say to use oil pan bolts, which are the proper length and have a smaller 10mm head.

That oil pan bolt trick is the best method. They are also the same grade as the hex bolts.

I dont even think mopar still sells the E-10 torx bolts... all are superceeded into the 13mm hex.

Good tip on the 10mm hex oil pan bolts, just make sure they have the same clamp/washer area as the stock crank bolts :thumb:

The torx bolts are still available. Part # is 6500350. Price is $3.45 ea. I checked on the 89 CB crank pulley bolts. The are the same as the oil pan bolts. Part # on those are 6101452. Price is $2.00 ea. I am going to order them today. Thanks for all the help guys.

So what is the P/N for the 13mm hex replacement bolts mopar sold me?

6101452 is the 13mm head bolt. I can't use them because the heads are too big. I need the 8mm bolt with a smaller head.

Does the help section at parts stores carry oil pan bolts?? just a thought.

Maybe not in the HELP section, but parent company Motormite has a whole line of automotive fasteners too...

Surely, somebody has a few they've gotten from a junkyard motor they could send to him. I would send you some for free if all my stuff wasn't in storage. I have no clue where my collection of extra nuts and bolts is.

I have some torx and oil pan bolts I could send out, Gerry sold me a couple bottom ends for spare weight, so I have a few spare fasteners available.

My parts store has allen head bolts in metric---they were grade 8 and worked perfect--much easier to install with long T-handle allen wrench also--got them in 2 engines and not a problem, :thumb: 30 cents each bobr19

Same here. Allen heads are the way to go for pulley bolts.

I am not buying new ones from Mopar. I will get them From a friend of mines's spare motor. I was just putting part # and prices out in case anyone needed them. Thanks for all the responses though.

In all my 84 up 2.2's I have used both oil pan bolts and Allen head bolts from Carquest at about $0.30 each. I think the Allen are 8MM X 1.25 Thread and about 3/4" long. First thing to be tossed on a rebuild was thoes stupid Torx bolts. Even with a correctTorx socket I have stripped some. DaveJ
