Hey, my D/D is a 98 contour SE 2.5L duratec. I spun a rod bearing on the #6 cyl. I was wondering if anyone has ever pulled a motor on one of these before, book time says 17hrs, so any tips, tricks, or advice would be awesome. Looks like I'll be dumping in a used motor so it has to come out. Thanks!:thumb:

haha duratec, it didn't live up to its name!

I really dont play with fords, but if its just a direct motor swap you should be able to figure it out half drunk.

Have you looked under the hood of one of these things before. It's stuffed, it took me 4hrs to change the alternator!

Never pulled the motor from mine, but I can see some scrapped knuckles and squished fingers in your future :) Enjoy :thumb:

Anyone know if I can pull the A/C compressor and leave all the lines in so I do not have to discharge the refridgerant. I haven't really looked all that hard at it, but, I'd love to save myself some more money if possible. Thanks

If you can tie it out of the way, sure.

Thats on the verge of a smart --- comment, but I kinda lined myself up for it. So i guess I'll just have to try. Crossing the fingers! But at least its not raining today.

Those are terrible, terrible cars. I wish you luck with it.

(t-belts on the 4cyls are good moneymakers though :) )

Almost done. Broke the rad putting everything back in. All thats left is hook up the few remaining elec/vac connections, and install the steady bearing and half shafts. Re-center the subframe & install the new rad. Hopefully running tonite, wish me luck, cause this thing has been a RPITA

lol! I was going to say those are a PITA, but you're almost done! I friend of mine has an SVT contour with the 2.5... and he was asking how bad it would be to put a clutch in it. The Ford mechanic he was talking to said "I don't ever want to do another one." I laughed.

Yea, its the same process to doing the clutch on an SVT. Either way a pain. I have the right motor mount, right axle/brakes, add fluids, and straighten the subframe. I think I have the vacuum figured out, but i can't find one of my O2 connectors. ARRRG!!! this thing is driving me nuts!!!!
