All fabrication work completed by myself and George of Heffner Performance.

Congratulations are deserved by all of the guys at the shop that put in some mega-long weeks getting the car done in time; John, TJ, and Zack. Without them this car would never see the track on time.

Here I am checking out the log from our record 7.993 @ 183 mph on pump gas, class legal run.

That's me in the hat and yellow glasses on the passenger side, pushing her up into the lanes to conserve fuel.

There aren't any posted anywhere. Depending on what it is in particular you would like to know I could answer it for you.

That is ridiculous. Those are the turbos up front aren't they?

Yes, those are them.

See, I'm not very religious, but I can only think of replies containing God, Jesus, or Holy, when I look at that.

Nice.

I am confused. Where is the radiator?

I also need help with the routing of the compressed air side. Looks like it goes back to the blue box on the pass side firewall, but then two tubes come forward. ... wait, the tubes coming "forward" over the suspension are actually going backward and are the exhaust. The radiator is split and is under the headlights .... right?

So no intercooler? Or is the blue box thing an aftercooler (water/air)?

How much boost? Any thing out of the ordinary for a race motor (other than it being a V10)? What kind of controller do you have to use for a V10? Water/meth setup?

I was going to go and couldn't find anybody to split gas with me. So, I stayed home. I wish I had gone now.

It sounds like you have it fairly well followed! There are twin duel pass radiators in the front bumper, behind each foglight hole. The matching aluminum 4" tubes over each control arm are the downpipes feeding into the side sill, and the Y'd 4" tube heading back under the dash is the charge piping which feeds a monster air/water intercooler under the dash in teh passenger footwell. The TB is on the back of the intake under the cowl.

If you pay real good attention and see all the small details... it's amazingly symmetrical. Each corresponding tube on each bank goes into the same collector inlet as the other side. Each primary starts with a 90* bend, 45* forward. Both wastegates sit centered and leveled between the collectors, and teh Y pipe is centered between them. And on and on and on. It is in my opinion one of the most beautifully put together race cars... notice the symmetircal running of the water and oil lines, wastegate lines, wiriing... everything.

Then again, I'm pretty partial though.

Kevin, you should've came! Lee is a huge TD fan and LOVES your car! I think Chris Faulk was there, but I didn't get to meet him in person even though I was like 10 feet from him when Lee was talking to him.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. All the guys appreciate it, as does Lee.

Is that Lee Saunders's car? I met him at SDAC 15. He's a really cool guy. Does he still have the SRT-4 and the turbo 2 Horizon? Are y'all going next year? If so, I will definitely make it down.

EDIT: I didn't know Lee's Viper was that radical? I'm kicking myself for now going now.

How close to the potential do you feel like the 7.99 is? This was the first trip ever with the set up:wow1:? Is there more power or more chassis to be had?

It was the second time in 4 days of having the car together. The test session we went to was garbage though, the track couldn't handle even the base power settings on the car.

It will go faster on pump gas still, no problem. Food for thought, it's best 60' is a 1.24, 1.34 on pump/small tires, and it went a 1.44 on that pass

Not to mention all we were running for boost was just a tick more than most of our cars do stock... :eyebrows:

Kevin, yup. It's not exactly a stock Viper! He still has the SRT and "The Mouth" Horizon. And a few more here and there... you know, whatever I haven't bought off of him :thumb:

They did a great job for this event, perhaps it's changed around now? Every night we were there it was hooking hard. Hard enough for a drag radial mustang to go 7.87 @ 182 the night before the event!

It even rained like crazy saturday night and sunday by noon they had it prepped and hooking just as well as the day prior.

It doesn't bother me. It's all public knowledge at this point since this was all covered by Hot Rod magazine. I appreciate you asking though! Let me know what they think.

Yeah, I do really. Even more so when it's back in the pits and people look it over and are just dumbfounded at the look of the engine bay and how it all flows together.

Nice fab work. Coming from a fabricator myself, I know how how much work goes into something like that.

What the specs on the turbos being used? Boost levels?

I work at a speed shop part time, I will be re doing the turbo setup on the outlaw mustang. Its running a 94mm precision. But will be replaced with the 101mm I believe as the 94 is blown up.

Its funny comparing a factory Garrett from a TD next too a turbo that will feed 2000hp worth of air.:D

What class is the viper running? This car should be running for next season. If you come out to Michigan stop and say hi!

Those are twin Precision Pro-Mod 90mm billet compressors, DBB variant. At the time there were only 6 out there, 2 on Tim Lynch's 'Stang and the other two were somewhere else. I saw a lot of guys on them at the oulaw race in Bradenton last weekend, but not many on the DBB cartridge.

It was leaving the line at about 2.5 psi, and ramping up to a total of maybe 14 at the big end. Seeing as the best the car ever trapped on the old twin 76mm setup was 174 mph at 20 psi on C16 and it did this on pump 93 and 14, we're thinking it's off to a good start.

The car was at Milan for the Viper Owners Invitational at the end of August. It went 174 mph out there on a shakedown pass on 7.2 psi. Next pass it shook the tires and broke the ring gear pretty bad. We're making some changes to it now and we'll see how she does after that.

Lee runs it in NMCA Heavy Street (outlaw class with min weight of 3500lbs), Pump Gas Drags, and the car could be legal for True Street with a couple changes.

Thanks for the compliments, it was a lot of fun to build.

A big block with a single on it would be fun in a Fox body, that's for sure!
