Are the shocks in the rear of a shelby charger a shock or strut?? (my dad and I looked tonight and to us it looks like a small strut)

What is a good brand to buy? I dont mean the best, but a decent, at minimum stock replacement.

thanks

yeah its a strut. KYB's are a good middle of the road strut.

I thought the rears were shocks and the fronts were struts.

Cindy has a few options at www.fwdperformance.com. You can go with cheaper KYB's or the expensive Koni/Eibach coilovers.

Rears are always refered to as Shocks, but they are a structural part of the suspension!

KYBs are good for street use with stock SC springs (Konis for serious use, but you need one on each corner ;)). If you're on a real tight budget the Gabriel shocks (often found cheap on ebay) work ok, they're just nothing special, and if you drag race you can get adjustable Gabriels cheap too.

yeah the rear aernt really what ID call a strut, but technically theyre. Good thing is u dont have to compress em to change the shock part out.

A strut has the spring and shock together, or has no spring but is a part of the suspension-IE upper control arm-think Mustang, a shock is a shock. Rears are shocks, fronts are struts, simple as that, :p

Rears-Monroe Sensa-tracs if not lowered, KYB's GR2's, Bilstein, Koni-if you want the best.

Never heard that one before. I also forgot, the 83 or 84 and up F bodies also have the same strut design as Mustangs.

where can I find the Monroe sensa tracs?? I checked Canadian Tire and the dealer and no one has any rear shocks at all for chargers.

Would these have to be shelby charger specific? or would regular charger ones work? I found a place the had two base model charger shocks.....

"L"'s DO have both together in the rear. Back in the day, I had a mechanic call it a "spring seated shock"

"Back in the day" we use to be able to buy universal overload springs for any shock--used in conjunction with the regular leaf springs-- :D bobr19
