Ok I have been in radio hell the last three weeks so far I have bought(and payed for) four radios.

number one no show?
number two DOA
number three just plan wrong :banghead:
and number four show up today and there is no FM band:banghead: :censored: :banghead:

So to say I am at the end of my rope would be an understatment and I have only recived money back form one person. I have been to many stores from big box type to local audio shops and they sell most of the same radios almost all have these tiny buttons on them which I hate.

Since I have had no luck getting the late 90s-early 00 radios I have been looking at the 2002 or so up(dodge/jeep) radios I know the plug is differnt but I am not sure if it will work by itself ? Anyone know ? I would hate to have five radios that I do not want/work . And will they fit in our dashbord ?

I've been through much the same thing. I'd like one of the single CD/cassette combos with a working CD player for my '89 CSX.

you can find the indash units like i have on Ebay. I bought one there for $130.00 and another at a yard sale for $100.00. A couple of pictures here; http://mylebaron.com/component/option,com_gallery2/Itemid,37/?g2_itemId=132&g2_GALLERYSID=9cd55ee1add75087b8db6a7f49e08577

then get the pig tail for a newer radio for around 40 I think although I dont have the part number here and then you could wire it in like any othe after market radio. They can also print off a pin out for what goes were in the new conector.

that really wont work, the newer radios had a can bus signal through them, the one from chrysler jumps some wires to gether but not sure which ones, I would just buy the harness

Hmmm, i paid about $42 for the harness at my local Chrys/Jeep dealer. The radios up to 2005 will will work--as stated they are of a 2005 Dakota p/u and one is from a Stratus. The same harness are available from some of the Ebay dealers also

The adapter is plug and play,-prewired from new style radio to the 2 plug harness. included is a adapter for the new style antenna connection

Some manufacturers make GM/Chrysler sized radios. I looked on Crutchfield and only found one though and the buttons were smallish.

I don't like the small buttons that much either. The radio I have in my car now is so complex I have to use the manual sometimes (I keep it under the seat for just such an occasion).

I do love that it has the attachment for the iPod. Now on long trips I don't have to mess with switching stations or CDs.

I was looking at the adapters in Walmart a while back... Grundig 8 track AM from a '76 Citroen GSA to a 2007 Porsche Cayenne, no problem! .... well maybe not, but they had a helluva lot.

Wal Mart tends to be my fall back position when I don't buy from Crutchfield (since Crutchfield sends the harness). For a store I've grown to hate, sometimes they have exactly what I need ... when I can find it.

that radio will work you just need the harness, the one thats $100, they used to be cheaper, Chrysler superceded the pn like 3 times and now they are more unless you find someone with an older one left.

Thanks paul B

The antenna connector on the radio is of a new design. There should be 2 antenna adapter pigtails where one end plugs into the radio and the other connects to the vehicles antenna.

Thanks for the links as I was checking for the pigtail from the dealer and was like $43 without anything else. I did find an guy selling the the pigtails for only $1.00 each so I was going to get them form him and just make them . But to save time I might just buy the premade kits.

Well it took longer than I had hope to get the kit from M&r the first one was wrong the second one was lost in shipping and the third was on back order but the kit did come in an week ago. I put the radio in the dash but found I had to cut an LOT more than I had planed/thought and it was still an tight fit to say the least.

But I got it in there and works well all I need is to get an I pod and jam on:thumb:

Thanks for the help every one
