Well, we thought it was a blown headgasket, but apparently not. 89 GT Lebaron with an 88 TII Engine w/auto. We've checked timing, elec and mech, map, codes, vacumn lines are all new (did same thing with old lines), ran it on the 2.5l and 2.2 TII computers, wastegate can discoed, can hear turbo whine, still nothing. Any ideas?

Leak in the intercooler plumbing? Broken or disconnected wastegate actuator arm at the swingvalve?

Hole or leak (big one) in the intercooler and/or piping (if your intercooled?)

just discoed the arm and zip tied it both directions (too late for me to remember which direction that works under boost/vac) and nothing. No balls at all. Only thing left is maybe a clogged cat?

Could be the cat. I assume you've already checked the piping and I/C for leaks? Also assuming that you know the turbo is good. It's not smoking or anything, right?

It's gotta be a leak in the intake piping.

Yeah, it just has the little TI U-hose, so thats an easy check. The turbo spun fine when it was out. What we thought was a headgasket failure was followed by lower oil pressure and slight overheating. We're going to drop the downpipe later and if that doesn't work I dunno..

That will do it for sure. Finally an excuse to get rid of it.
