I had to take the rear diff cover off to grind it down for my rod shift linkage and I was wondering if there are any special instructions I should follow on re-install??

Also should I be changing anything on the diff before I put it back in? (It came out of an 89 Shelby with aprox 90000km)

Uh, are those Warren Hall's gloves in your living room? If so, what are they doing there:lol:?

You are installing the diff back into the SAME trans it came of right? You might want to check the end play (adjustable thru the nose cone shims behind the bearing race) per the FSM but it's probably fine. When they are swapped around into different transes, then you have to set preload for sure.

I like the Mopar 'red' trans sealer but RTV will work if everything is nice and clean:)

I like to replace the bearings anytime I have one out. Of course you'll need a puller and a heater.... unless you don't mind using your oven.

And some LSD.

Omni-Potent sells differential pin saver tabs.

Are the diff saver tabs as necessary on the 555/568 diff?

they should be required on all factory diffs, I guess how you treat it will tell if its likely to fail or not. But with the 2.4 caravan motor and trans I got to build to build up for my car, the auto trans had a hole with JB weld covering it, so I assume the diff pin shot through into the bellhousing. I had to grind there to fit the OBX anyway so it worked out good
