Went to the track today for my first time with this car. All I can say is I need DR's or slicks cause I can't get outa the hole without lighting them up or coming out like a pig. It was an Import vs. Domestic day, started with two timed runs, then they started eliminations with dial-ins. Had a great time getting used to my car and getting my reaction times down. I also made it to the 4th round of eliminations. There were probably no more then 2 or 3 rounds after the one I lost in, but at least I did go down to a HOTTIE in a BMW(it was an auto and her dial in was 17, all she had to do was push the gas, but anyway). I may post my slips at some point, but I am kinda ashamed at how slow I was going, I will blame it on the freezing weather :D

you can't make a post about going to the track and then not say any numbers, it's like an unwritten code.

edit: I would say that you owe it to people like me who shoveled about a foot of snow today and can only dream about going to the track. LOL :p

Fine I will post my best one, then hang my head in shame...

R/T ... .479
60' ... 2.672
330 ... 6.900
1/8 ... 10.328
MPH ... 73.42
1000 .. 7.946
1/4 ... 15.784
MPH ... 61.71

Ok ok, I know those number looked mess up. Something was up with the MPH and 1000' time, but R/T, 60' and 1/4 are right. On another run my MPH was 92.11 and that was a 15.84
So there go ahead and laugh. I swear it was the traction ;)

was this at that event at Englishtown, NJ?

can you give us a report, what other TDs showed? or any pix of the event?

no reason to hang your head in shame you had the balls to actually race unlike the posers. just get sticky tires and you'll take 1-1.5 seconds off that ET.

My 1st ever pass with the GLHS was a 15.6 @ 93mph... Of course, in 1999 that was more respectable then. I was still upset because stock (and it was bone stock) it was supposed to run 14.9 @ 95.

Yes this was the Englishtown event. Was actually a good turn out considering it was pretty cold in the wind. The imports definately out numbered the domestics and probably dominated the 3 slower classes, but only one Evo could touch the top class that was 12.99 and under which was all American muscle. I was the only older school TM/TD with my Daytona, but there were a ton of SRT-4's, a Jeep Grand Cherokee group showed up and did very well, also Jon G.(don't want to butcher his last name, used to have a 12 second CSX) was there with his Dakota havin some fun.

As for my mods...
2.5L T-II, +40's, 17Psi on a 22Psi Cal, 1g BOV, K&N Air Filter, cheap tires that can't handle the boost( ;) )

Cold track days are great for HP but not for traction. Traction on any day is HIGHLY dependant on track prep as well.

Last year, the Grove started doing 'super stick slick night' on Thursdays. I only got up there for one of those and unfortunately popped the HG on my first real pass. On my 'warm up' passes it launched well tho, even bogging once.

"...I was the only older school TM/TD ....."

sorry to read.....in all my times at E-Town i dont recall ever there being more than (3) old school TD's there at same time.

I tried to get the word out, but nobody had there car out yet, or they didn't want to make the trek. I am sure I will go back again. Maybe with more traction :)
