Starting my heim joint changeover on the omni. Ive been searching both sites for info but none have any assembly instuction specifics on ho the heims bolt to the brackets, are there spacers in between them they look taller that just having the joint attached directly to it. There just seems to be a same half dozen or so pic floating around, does anyone have beeter pics of the install?

Also another thing,

Both of my rods look the same, Im finding there should be 2 different rods in this setup. Is this a problem? Also are you guys cutting you heims a little shorter, because there is no room for a jamb nut on the heim by the bend on the rod i have pointed out in the pic.

Yes, there are spacers between the joints and brackets. I have a heim joint rod shifter setup for an A525 I bought last year. I don't have it installed yet, but I could get you some pics of the parts tomorrow.

I made the same, but with different quick release ends. Haven't failed me yet and in good shape.

BTW, depending on how your car is setup, you don't need the really bent one. I did it with a straight rod. I have a 525 in a L body.

The cone spacers seem to be impossible to find in 3.8 size.

Go to Lowe's/Home Depot, buy 3/8" rod, cut to length, bend, thread and install the quick release connectors. Trust me, the first time you have to change your starter you'll save yourself a lot of time by going with something that you can disconnect by hand instead of using two wrenches in a tight space.

I spent about $65 or thereabouts in materials from that Midwest Ohio parts place and could have saved some money had I just bought the rod at Lowe's. The rods from the Midwest Ohio place were like $12 per rod, pre-threaded. One rod to do both and then some is like $5, just needs to be threaded.

good idea but i already have my rods put together, Dont know if i did it right tho, pretty sure i messed up the center to center lengths. Hopefully its not hard to adjust. The place that i bought my heims off of are going to make me a set of 3/8 cone spaces for $15 so that taken care of.

In this picture, if you move the pivot point on this shifter pictured below to the point indicated in the pic, would it be a shorter shift or would make a difference?
