Are you talking about the intermediate shaft for the disty? Can that be pulled with the motor in the car? I know somebody that has one loose if it can't come out easily but I'm not sure if he has it close. Let me know!

Hmmm... I DO know where I can get a non-cb shortblock with an uneven deck surface AND also I know where there's another non-cb longblock that's getting ready to be temporarily installed in a wagon until it decides to let go 5 minutes after it's maiden voyage... ;) :D :thumb:

Is that a 2.5 tall deck block I see in there? Is it going to be for sale? I could trade you a good CB...

Rob, unfortunately, no... it was a 2.2 non-CB T1 orig and now has a 2.5 CB. None are the good "tall boys." I would let you know if it was as you've been hunting for a while. What were they originally in again?

As far as I know, all pre-'89 2.5's were tall deck. I thought it was because (supposedly) only the 2.5 tall deck engines got the A/C bracket with the slots in it.

I did get one complete 2.5 tall deck engine from Patrick McNamara. But, still looking for 1 more block.

Actually Rob, all the 86-88 A/C brackets had the slots, this let the same part fit the 2.2 and 2.5.

I've still got a tall deck block here that you can have, can bring it to SDAC for you if you want.

I'll be there for the whole thing. Bringing the engine to the drag event isn't an issue.

Anyhow free Bump for Nate's thread, people should buy some of his stuff so he can get new curb feelers for his Buick. Poor guy keeps marking up his whitewalls. :D

Exactly... Those V6's aren't any cheaper than TD's you know. I have to "redirect" my funding to another mfgr, at least for now. I will still linger in the Black Buick's shadows though, so don't think you'll be rid of me that easily. ;) :thumb: :D

Hey Nate you still have that exhaust mani? Has the turbo flange been resurfaced? It looks like I need another one to get my lancer going..

88_pacifica
05-13-2008, 07:09 AM
Mine has the hole tapped for the egt, but if you want a stocker those are a dime a dozen. I can get you one pretty cheap. Are you needing it tapped??

On mine the flange is not resurfaced, however it is true. I know that it hasn't exhibited any signs of leaking, but I use grease as my "gasket" when mating the two. ;) :thumb:

WickedShelby88
05-13-2008, 09:06 AM
I don't need it tapped no. When and if I go that far it will be apart again completely. I was told to use some grease as well. I already belt sanded the mating surface of the turbo exhaust housing though. sounds like yours would be the best option if its true. Or if I could buy one with the studs removed even better.

not sure... I WAS absolutely, positively sure that I was but gas, hotel, food, etc is a bit more than I had budgeted. I REALLY want to go, but I want to go to see the road races and the drags(both on Mon and Tues) and I'd have to take of M-W AND come with over $500 easy for that stuff. Then that leaves me nothing to do anything else, which I KNOW I have to do.... :(

SO, I'm about 75% sure I'm not, but 25% is still trying to talk the wifey into fitting it into the budget...

Are you planning on racing? $50 covers the entry fee into all the events and gets you a meal, goody bag, and a name tag with a pin on the back. Find someone to share the hotel room with and save money there. Should be able to do it all and stay within your budget.

Can't race. Don't have a car and the GN isn't even an option. ;)

I haven't even booked the room(or found a counterpart) and I was thinking of going later than most so I'd have to hoof it 318 mi on my own. With gas at over $4 a gallon and a car avg about 20 mpg, this is 32 gallons round trip(plus in town driving 4 or 5 gallons). That's $150 gas, then there's food, joining up with SDAC(member), hotel, etc, etc... I may have to make it to another TD event once I have a some more $$ saved up.
