I have been trying to add an avatar and pic in my sig. I keep getting this message that says "Upload failed due to failure writing temporary file". I was trying to link a URL.

Try downloading the picture to your hard drive and go about it that way. let me know how it works.

Tried from my hard drive and got this, "This JPEG image has the incorrect file extension."
