View Full Version : Some 3.0L Flywheel and Clutch Issues...

Hey all, its been awhile since I've had time to work on my car, but this weekend I decided that it needed finished:D

I finished putting the motor back together, then added my new Fidanza aluminum flywheel with some new ARP bolts.

Unfortunately, when I went to mount the clutch and pressure plate, the clutch disc does not come in contact with the flywheel, but instead hits the heads of the bolts????

Anyone know what is going on here as I've never seen this happen before.

I know that I have the correct flywheel, clutch kit, and bolts because I double checked, so this is blowing my mind.

Can we not use the ARP bolts on the 3.0? Do the heads stick out too far??

Thanks for any info on this problem, I miss my car and am currently stuck with a wimpy 1.9L Escort. Yeeecchhh......It is a 5-speed, but it still won't even squeak the tires - Even if I dump the clutch.......

Also, I was wondering - Are both shifter cables identical??

Much Thanks

Nathan Willbur

Is the clutch being installed backwards? Take a picture of the bolts. The stock bolts dont stick out past the friction surface.

Yes clutch is being installed correctly.

I had to bolt the motor and trans into the car so it could be transported, but I will have it back apart in the next couple days.

The new ARP bolts are just shy of being flush with the friction surface.

I don't have the old ones since this is a new build.

I will try to get some pics tomorrow.

Thanks

What vehicle were they ordered from?

I know stockers work.

If you have some insanity in you, maybe you can just grind them down ;)

I ordered these. http://www.fwdperformance.com/Store/Product.asp?IDCatalog=61&ProductID=865

It doesn't say what they are for, just for 8 bolt crank

Grinder sounds like fun:evil:

If they look like what is in that package, then they dont look anything like the stockers.

I wonder why they carry those as its pretty obvious from that picture that they wont fit (i had to look them up though cause links to FWD never work :P )

That's what they look like.

The link works for me.......:confused2:

I think the link works for you because you have some cookie that understands your session there but nobody else can see your link because they dont have the same cookie. I dont know why they have the site programed that way.
edit:
...I think its actually because of how the link is shortened by the forums. I cut and pasted it from properties, then tried clicking on the link and it will work now. I think it happens on all the forums FWD is part of though.
