i have a 2.5 T2 with 87 CSX electronics ever time i get on the damn car my timing jumps horribly i've poped a piston like this before and dont wanna do it again lol, what could cause the jump, it jumps up and down, not just one set way... distributer is tightened down too.

What to you mean the timing jumps? Are you saying that the timing belt is skipping a tooth?

no timing belt is fine, its some sort of an ignition jump, i can set it at 12, go drive the car, it studers and pops, come back and check it and it could be at like 0 or not even on the scale

You have to set the timing with the coolant temp sensor unplugged. If you are reading it with it plugged in, then the timing will be all over the place. I think that the real problem is that you ate running a 2.5 with 2.2 electronics. You can do a search for the old school recipe, or you can make a custom cal using Bucar's 2.5LM cal...

Also....a little far fetched to that degree...but pull the cap and rotor button...then remove the hall effect and check to be sure the hall effect shutter (crown looking thing) isn't loose in relation to the distributor shaft.
