View Full Version : Laser surpises me and a 350Z

Last night coming home a 350z vert comes up beside me just as we are slowing down for a red light. I am doing about 10 or 15mph when the light turns green. So I gently start to accelerate when the 350Z throws a rev at me. So I am thinking, okay you are probably going to kill me, but I am game. I floor it, he floors it and we are dead even up to about 60 - 65mph when we both let off. I was shocked to say the least and I think he was too.

So to Chris at TU - the fast spool option even on the stock T1 turbo is awesome. I was amazed at how fast the turbo responded because since I was going so slow, the rpms were definitely on the low end of the sweet spot. It reached a good 7psi or so well before 3000 rpm and I think that is what held the 350Z at bay.

So I would not call it a win or a loss, just a very nice surprise.

BTW, the Laser is a stock non-intercooled 86 T1. The only upgrades it has is a K&N drop-in, and a full 2.5" exhaust with 2.5" SW and DP.

Nice! I thought the old lasers still had the 4g63 motors?

You're confused with the old G-body Chrysler Laser with our 2.2 SOHC Crysler engine, http://www.mullane.com/1986Chrysler-Laser-XT.jpg and the '90s Plymouth Laser with the 4G63 Mitsubishi engine.http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/1/web/2041000-2041999/2041794_3.jpg

I picked up a 86' chrysler lazer, but it was too roted out to make any use of it. Glad to hear that yours is going strong.

Thanks, I am the 2nd owner of this car that was literally owned by a little old lady and pampered - garage kept and maintained maticulously. The Laser is in really good condition, especially the interior, and I love the digital dash and graphical display in it.

I completely found that at random on Google images! It was the cleanest example I could find, so I used it!:thumb: Very nice Laser!!
