Thats why.
Any accident or speeding ticket records? Insurance takes a decent drop after you are 25 years old though.

Clay

yeah, 25 and married is as low as you can get insurance wise, well, with no prior claims, tickets, etc.

Mine is just short of 1500 a year, and I am 25 and single. I bought the car when I was 23. No tickets to date.

Frank
03-31-2008, 06:00 PM
Mine has never been that high at any age.

87 CSX, 91 Daytona Shelby, 94 Bronco - all basic insurance - 116/month total! Of course I have good driver, multicar, multiline (house). I wonder what will happen with my recent ticket!

moparzrule
03-31-2008, 06:14 PM
Just one ticket the car insurance normally won't go up if you've been with them for awhile and have had a good record for awhile. They'd have to be real pricks.
Frank who do you have insurance with? 116 a month seems steep for 3 cars and basic liability only on them. I have 3 cars, and 2 drivers for $81 a month from ERIE. I have the same discounts as you as well. I am married, but you are older than me plus married isn't worth $35 a month in payment.

Well I have a little bit more then liability - towing, deer, etc.

Mine is with State Farm and I also live in MD. With State Farm, I know that if I have a problem, it will be taken care of immediately and without any question. My agent is a long time friend of my family and my mom's family, plus I am a customer of 12 years. ;) I know that married will drop it about 10-15/month.

That doesn't surprise me in the least. When you have no money, you have to pay more for things. Think about it, go and get a loan...the people that make 100K a year can get a personal signature loan with a 6% or less rate, somebody that makes 30K if you even can get the loan you'll get a 10+% rate and have a much larger payment. So the guy that doesn't have as much money and struggling to get by has to pay more. Then the banks complain that people are defaulting on their mortgages and crap, when if they would have been given a better rate to cut $100-200 per month off their mortgage maybe it would have gone better?
This is a *ucked up world.

OK, rant off....

There are many factors, the # of crashes recorded in SRT-4 probably puts them as a high risk and therefore you pay a premium because of it. Factor in age and any tickets/claims and it jumps quickly. I pay about 900/yr for full coverage on all my cars with a 50 comp and 250 colission. No tickets/accidents for many a year and i'm 29 and married. I remember looking at buying a Talon TSI when I was 20 and it was outrageous. The insurance for the year would have been more than the car! Now I can insure my 87 Shelby Z, 89 Spirit, 91 Daytona Shelby, and 95 Dakota for less than 6 months for the TSI. I guess there's one thing you can look forward to when you get older. Not much else I can think of though :(

The insurance on my SRT-4 creeps up a little every year even though I have no accidents or tickets. The first year it was 46.00 a month now its 56.00.
10.00 doesn't seem like much but thats about a 20% increase.

I've heard to switch ins. companies every year. In Franks case I wouldn't do that. I have State farm as well and that covers 2 vehicles, 2 people along with renters and personal property. I pay I think 80 a month. But I'm older (27) married and have a son.

I have 3 vehicles, all with full coverage and with a clean record and I was paying $1600 every 6 months from Allstate and it seemed like it just kept going up. So about 2 months ago I decided to check around and went to a local agency to see what they could do for me. They were able to get my insurance down to $850 every 6 months!:D I couldnt belive it! I am now covered under this company on the west coast called Oregon Mutual that has been around for 100 years or something. I guess what I am saying is look around a bit and try some other places besides the big names.

Wow, you guys get off lightly. ICBC is a government run insurance company and we get no breaks for insuring one or more vehicles. My diesel van and Minivan are around $1000 each a year with NO collision, then if I get rich and insure my bike, its another $1300 a YEAR and I have the max discount possible.

I'd barely be able to afford to drive if I had to pay that much insurance! Well I'd only insure 2 cars and make my shadow off road only thats for sure. $3000 a year is $250 a month, crazyness.

$4k per year here. Insure 5 cars, 4 full coverage 1 liability with a 19 year old male driver. Since there is a 19 year old on the policy the Solstice is $1600/year because he COULD drive it. Every vehicle is higher due to this. No tickets or accidents on either the wife or I. Both his tickets have beenwaived for traffic school. No reported infractions.

Rates are also based on location. My insurance doubled by moving 100 miles from the boonies of NC to Charlotte, NC. In areas with high traffic congestion insurance rates will be higher.

Two drivers and two cars insured here. Full coverage on the 03' CTS and pl/pd on the 97' Tiburon

I am 31 and my wife is 28. We pay $198 a month ($2,376) a year. A nice gift I think.

After a year or two it should drop SOME because the time a woman hit my lebaron in the side, oooh back in 03' is still on my record.

Stupid parking lot accidents. Woman driving frontwards turned around talking to the people in the back seat is a bad recipie.

My insurance rate was one big factor in getting rid of my SRT-4. I was 31 no accidents or tickets, plus a homeowners policy with State Farm at it was $850 for 6 months. It went down from $980 to $900 when i turned 30. I traded it in on a Mazdaspeed 6 and the insurance went down to $500 for 6 months. However my 88 CSX-T is $308 for 6 months for the basic coverage. Go figure.

Its all location, location!! I have a customer that had his insurance double due to getting into an accident in NYC with his car, its insured through Conn, but this the accident happened there, they decided he drives there too often....ouch. So because he got hit at a light NOT moving due to 2 other idiots, he now has to pay an additional 800$ a year!!!

Here on Long Island though, I pay Just under 2k for 4 cars, 02 Dakota(full), 05 Forester XT(full), 88 CSXt(basic), 71 Skylark(classic/hagerty).

Its not cheap here, and me an the wife had great records till the past year, no increase yet.....we both had accidents, and I got a speeding ticket. We have ALLstate, good customer service quite payouts.

i pay for 4 vehicles, just liability and that is my IRoc R/T, 95 K1500 4x4 pickup, 91 GMC Syclone and 1984 Rampage about $1325 for six months. im 26, single and decent clean record the past 3-4 years. my company doesnt do driving record check every 6 months and bump your premiums up for tickets etc every time im up for renewal. i have Progressive. i should have them reevaluate me next year tho, i think it should go down more but i might just think so because NJ is soo damn expensive they really should cut me a break

Dude thats expensive, you should shop around a little. Thats what I did, got quotes from Geico and progressive, they were $30 cheaper per month than Erie. So I went to my agent, and they matched the price! So I stayed with Erie, keeps my home owners payment low because of the multi policy discount.

04-06-2008, 10:17 PM
That is Progressive... Gieco isn't much lower if at all sadly... Price I pay for living in Queens... Also I was on the phone with Progressive the other week talking about my policy, I mentioned what "IF" I kept my cars in South Jersey (extremely safe area), they told me I'd be "nonrenewable"... The cars "have" to be kept in NY, this state sucks!

use the South jersey address and get them insured there and see if its cheaper. dont you have faimly there? a lot of ppl use alternate addresses like ppl with houses in the poconoes that live in NJ and get PA insurance and plates and rarely are ever out by their pocono homes

When I got my first GTC TII I was 20 with one accident and one speeding ticket on my record. I paid $75 a month for full coverage. Now I'm 27 and when I insure the GTC and the Stealth, both full coverage it's about $140 a month.

Unless you have a crap driving record and crap credit that's too high IMO.

That's what I have been considering. When I had my '03 Baja with full coverage in NJ it was as much as my current insurance is for 6 months... I've just got to figure out how to do it...

have it all switched over to another company and have it all sent there, but you would need a NJ license im pretty sure.

Has anyone else checked Esurance?? I went with them when I bought Dakota and they've been good so far, No claims as of yet...

$1200/year for full coverage $200 deductible and aftermarket(this is where they get ya!) coverage on Dakota and Omni..

86Shelby
04-10-2008, 09:20 PM
Wow, I thought mine was only reasonable at $68/mo for liability on the Omni and full coverage on the R/T. Oh, and my agent called the other day and let me know that the Omni is going down again because of my driving record. So the auto portion of next months bill should be about $63.

My six month premium for liability on two R/Ts and one SL is just under $200. I guess it has something to do with Wyoming being the least populated state.

WOuldnt work. With a salvage title, you would have to take it in to get inspected, to put it back on the road=fail:yuck:

moparzrule
04-12-2008, 02:06 PM
Plus the vin is on the title, registration, and the insurance card. So whenever you go get the car inspected the vin won't match the registration and insurance card.

1. it was a joke

2. i said "buy".... when you buy a car, you get the title and such.

3. i dunno... those pop rivets dont look to hard to get rid of. plus, no one has EVER looked at my vin plate to make sure that it matches everything else. I call in my insurance and tell them the vin, take the cards to the DMV and get my tags and plates and during inspection time, they sure as hell dont look.

Ahh OK, didn't pick up on the sarcasm.

In PA you have to take a pencil and paper, stick the paper over the VIN and scribble side to side making the VIN show up on the paper. Or, you can take a picture. But I don't think a pic of the vin plate off of the car is gonna work, so you'd have to take a pic of the donor neon before taking the plate.
To top it off, if you ever get busted thats some huge fines.
