She should look a bit better with another 1"-2" drop but I'm debating shooting the discs black.

Don't use the brakes too much, with no air to them they're gonna get hot fast.

Brakes???:confused2:

Yes, they will trap the heat in behind the caps, and kill the rotors asap if your a heavy braker or going down a long, steep hill, towing even.

Thanks, I'm going to leave em. Next step is the drop and decal removal!:thumb:

I am prepared for the brake issue actually, I just don't use em too often:D
The foglights are dead so I'm going to pull em and run 3" ducts to the rear of the discs. Drums will be a little easier as the scoops can get hidden. We only put about 8k miles per per year on her and you can't tow with R/Ts so it should work well.

Why cant you tow with an R/T? Heck I towed my Spirit R/T on a trailer from NC to NV thru the mountains with a V6 Dak both ways with no issues, and the truck had 220k on it. I also tow now with a V6 5 Speed Dak and a 4.7 Durango with no issues. Is there something I should know?

The wheels look cool, leave them. Also I did a 3-4 drop on my Durango and it looks great. Depending on how tall your tires are, dpeends on how far you can go. I got my rear wing and my SRT hood will be in tomorrow!!

Post pics when you finish the drop.

Becaue of the suspension set up they were only rated to tow 2000lbs from the factory. Dodge did a buyback in 99(I think) because initial sales info stated they were good to 4k.

Tires are 28" in the rear 27" in the front, she's already down 2" from a stock Dak so I'm thinking another 1"-2" should be nice.

The R/T comes from the factory with a lowered suspension and was always only rated to tow 2,000 lbs. That's why when I bought my Dakota I went with a reg. cab 4.7L Sport with a 5 speed manual and 3.92 gears. I can walk away from a stock R/T and still tow 6,000 lbs. :D Don't need no stinkin' lowered suspension!

Leave them! They are awesome. Don't worry about the brakes they will work just fine. I have had quite a few old pickups that had no airflow through the wheel. Think of the old steel wheels that the D100 and D200 had. The cast aluminum rims with spokes are mostly for looks. What about all of the cars nowadays that have steel rims and plastic hubcaps with no air passage through them? They all stop just fine as there is plenty of airflow on the back side of the wheel.

I got rid of the R/T rims a while ago, the chuckholes here ate them up pretty fast!
Yeah they're 6 on 4.5 bolt circle. Very limited on decent looking aftermarket rims...
I'll find a clean set of R/T rims eventually.. These'll do fine for now AND the rear steel wheels with 275/60/15s are 5lbs lighter each than the R/T rims with the 275/55/17s!!

you wouldnt know it!!!

im surprised!!!

but yea... i got an 88 dakota, and they would probably looks sweet on there.... something different...

i got a 6 lug parts dakota... a 94, that we might turn into a race truck when we dont need any more parts off of it.... i could probably get the front hubs and rear end out of that if i find a nice set of R/T's for cheap.

R/T wheels look awesome on early Daks.. But if you have an 88.. 5 on 4.5 leaves you open to tons of wheel options.
Best I've seen so far was Mopar ralley wheels.. The truck was painted up like a T/A Challenger too.. So sweet!
Cop wheels are a close second..
