View Full Version : EGT gauge-deceiferring A/F ratio?
I have a 1,400*EGT gauge and I'm wondering how you deceifer the A/F ratio per number on the gauge? I'm shooting for 13.25:1 or 13.5:1.

Also, EGT's cannot be directly correlated to AF's. Timing can play havoc with EGT's, and yet your AF might be in the totally opposite direction.
A wideband in conjunction with an EGT is optimal.

Exactly, an EGT gage just tells you if you're going to melt something. It doesn't really tell you your A/F ratio. Now adding or removing fuel will affect EGT's, but you can't calculate A/F based on EGT as 8valves said.
Hmm okay as Aaron said, 11.5:1 is ideal for our cars. So with that said, is there any way to determine A/F ratio? I will be hooking up a scanner to the van to tune it all in shortly after Spring Break.

No, I never said 11.5 is just optimal. It is a good point for power/safety on pump gas, but that's it. It depends on what your definition of optimal I guess. To me optimal is max power... but that's only goofy people like me.
