Get an 85' Electrical Diagrams FSM and an 89' Electrical Diagrams FSM and you'll be good to go. Or just find someone with a scan of both bulk head pinouts and that will work too.

What is the Omni--Carb or Turbo ??? The SMEC is self contained under the hood-If you have a carb, you can cut and splice at the bulkhead connector pretty easy--If 85 turbo you are dealing with the kick panel computer as well as the underhood and would be easier to use 89 under hood and under dash harness complete--bobr19

You take an L-Body bulkhead, you cut the bulkhead off of the 89' Harness and you splice the 89's wire into the L Bulkhead.

you should never mess with wiring.......fire can come out of it.:)

do the old trick of removing all items you wont need and then you have a smaller mess to deal with.........

like a/c and radio wires etc....and always mark the wires when you remove them ....you did this right ????

not too much difference between 88 and 89 harness...maybe headlights.

Here';s the 85 bulkhead (e body...probably pretty much the same:

and the 89 (turbo minivan...pretty much the same...could get you going):
