View Full Version : Flex-Fuel and/or Mexican MPI Exhaust Manifold

I am told that that the flex-fuel exhaust manifold and/or the Mexican MPI Exhaust Manifold (maybe they are two in the same) were stock cast iron header like manifolds which flowed exceptionally well.

Can anyone confirm ?

And if true, does anyone have one for sale or know where one can be found ?

Looks alot like a TBI exhaust manifold, though I can't really see too well from the pictures.

Agreed. I would love to see some pics of them side by side.

Looks alot like a tbi intake also. See the air gaps between the runners never seen a one piece like that before. So if it is a MPI exhaust manifold it isn't on a MPI engine.

The intakes were just turbo one piece intakes.

I was messing with one the other day at the junkyard but I didn't take a good look at the exhaust mani.

I did grab the injectors though.

Yeah, the 3rd pic down is definitely a TBI intake.

Compared to a regular exhaust manifold which looks like this :

that bottom pic looks very similar to the 2.4 DOHC caravan mani I used to make my turbo mani(except for the bosses sticking up), so I would say its from some model 2.0/2.4. The TBI mani's look different than that

if thats the flex fuel exhaust, could a pipe be welded on the bottom and have it come up to nearly the stock turbo mounting location? and have a flange welded to the pipe and the manifold?

I still don't feel like we got a definitive answer to this question.

This is a 2.4 DOHC exhaust manifold, not a 2.2/2.5 exhaust manifold of any type.

That has been covered at nauseum.. do you have a photo of a standard manfold to compare to a mexi ?

I reread the entire thread and noticed that somebody had posted that it looked similar to a 2.4 manifold. I simply wanted to confirm that for you. I didn't think that would qualify as being discussed "ad nauseum". Have some Pepto.

my bad.. two threads going on the same subject..

anyhow.. while everyone says it doesn't exist, there seems to be photos the contrary.

Not once does anyone say that it doesnt exist, please reread the thread. Only thing said was that that last pic is not a 2.2/2.5 manifold, its from a 2.4DOHC

lol I could have ended a lot of this threads confusion:lol:

2.2/2.5 TBI setup, with a 2.2/2.5 TBI exhaust manifold ~ from Mexico(aka the cast iron tubular header):thumb:

:)I think it's rare:p

I saw two Flex-Fuel cars at junkyards today.

Seems like the flex-fuel cars have the same TBI manifold as the rest of the n/a cars.

:pI spent the money I was going to put into the head to take a 6hour drive and pick up a load of parts... Sooo, unless something happen's where I have the $$ to finish the head it will be some time before I can get a pic of it that show's how it differ's... Sorry, but it was worth the wait for me:nod:
