:)It's being consider, SDAC or Carlisle... I want to go to both, see Jackson's 91 Daytona Shelby. But can only work in one with my work schedule... Been wanting to attent sense signing up on the boards and learning about SDAC, was wanting to bring the CSX though...

I always wanted to go to SDAC, and especially one in MI. Visit the Walter P. Chrysler museum and have Barry reccomend other places to visit (if not too far away) Maybe even visit a certain someone with the initials KJS.

At this point... 33% though as only one week vacation, and I really need to get a new roof on this place.

It'll pull it.....

But more importantly, can it stop more than double it's own weight safely?

Do ya think a Rampage can pull a GLHT on a two wheel dolley? Anyone done it? Seen it?As Mike said, it'll pull it, and brakes might be iffy on flat land. Going up and down the Rockies might be quite a challenge though (maybe even scary).

You have time to upgrade your Rampage's brakes to the 11" R/T front set up and some rear discs with good performance pads that might make it possible.

I've pulled my 88 shadow with my 89 Spirit TI auto using a tow dolley. It pulls fine and the dolly has trailer brakes on it so it stops fine but just doesn't feel all that great at speed. I've only pulled short distances with it. The longest being 2 hrs from Milwaukee to Green Bay. The biggest thing is the spirit doesn't have the weight so it tugs and pulls when hitting bumps. It could be done but I don't think it would be that enjoyable of a drive for any long haul.

Back in 1984 I used a 1984 Plymouth Horizon (with a HO motor in it) to pull my 1981 Horizon using a tow bar....It did it okay, but the ex wifes 81 Reliant pulled it with more control....still scarry....the track was in FLAT Indiana and only 20 miles from home...I ended up selling the 81 and drag racing Matchbox!:D

actually I just tagged along that year, my car wasnt up to snuff to be able to make the 4 hour drive.
I had rolled up with Dean stillie (rampage) Frank V (radiant red's 91 dodge shadow) Brad (92 white iroc 8v) and the infamous scott h (91 black spirit ES) as well as John R (who I think taggged along as well). Ryan (J n H bodies) came out with us canadians as well :thumb:.....but I dont think he's looking to room with us again hahaha!

this year I should have 2 cars there, 87 shelby charger (the nice clean one 8valves sold :D) and 87 CSX #657...just need 2 find someone to drive the CSX over....quite possibly with a 4 sale sign :(

I have gone to Carlsile the last couple years and thought THIS TIME I should go to SDAC. (Maybe both). So I will be there. Want to bring my car but I will have to fly. I can't afford 5000 miles in fuel. (almost $700 or $1000 if I tow).

I've been tossing around the idea of making it this year. It really hinges on alot of variables like.......... I don't know......... getting the car done. Current goal is May 24th weekend which would only leave me a few weeks to work out the quircks and get it tuned for a 40 hour drive. Sure would love to come though.

You could always try to convince your sister and future bro-in-law to get married in Detroit. "You know, the plane tickets are cheaper, lodging is cheaper, and the weather is not bad either."

I would love to play on a road course, or even better, an autocross.
BUT my car (GLHS) will not be ready and the wagon ether. Just been too busy bulding my new place to live and the new shop.
Really, the real reason is 5000 miles of fuel cost. I am sure you all understand that. If the GLHS was ready it gets 30 mpg so it wouldn't be too bad. But after spending so much on a new shop, wallet is thin this year. (But I love the new shop).

Any unexpected financial dilemmas aside, it will depend entirely upon the job. I'll have about three days of vacation available at that point, plus 5 sick days (haven't missed a day yet), so I should be able to swing it. Supervisor would probably crap a brick if I call in sick that many days, but he'll cope.

thats an old pic, there is no big construction plans for I-75 in michigan yet that i have heard of. they actually have most of it new from the last 15 years of construction on it.

you can pull up there and take a pic, the compound is big and people go there for all types of business, security is all on the inside. i actually got to go inside the hq 3 days in a row for 30 hours total when i worked for Palmer moving that has the account for the big 3, U of M college and a few big hospitals.
but i did get to wander off on break and see the photo studio which is octagoned like on the interior walls and they had about 12 cars, (this was in 2002) all were unbadged and they had the srt 4 neon, the new stratus r/t, renegade, charger, avenger, durango, sebring, srt10 etc.
too bad camera phones werent common back then.

GLHT, I'll be looking for that as we drive by. That isn't in the section where there's construction though, is it? No, the construction where I-75 is closed in both directions until late 2009 is actually in the city of Detroit (about 20 miles south of Chrysler Tech Center).

We will have good directions to avoid that mess in the newsletter, on our website, and in this forum well before any one sets out to travel to the event. We need to have our host hotel and other venues firmed up before we publish directions though.

We will release that info here as soon as we get it (watch the thread in SDAC Events sub-forum). The contract for the road course was at the PO box when I checked it today. Yep, it's a nice place. When Craig & I went on a tour of it Friday, we walked into the lobby and the floor is all polished marble interspersed with expensive plush carpeting. We both rolled our eyes and I looked at Craig and said, "Can you imagine a cart with a set of slicks being rolled across here?":lol:

And when we stepped out of the elevator on the 9th floor, the new carpeting just dazzled us. Then we went into a 'single' room, Wow! :thumb: There will be folks attending that probably won't want to leave their room for the events. :D Everywhere we went in there was nice. Next to the indoor pool is the completely new workout room with all new treadmills, stair steppers, etc.

The price they list for the rooms range from $159 a night for a single to $279 per night for the quad rate. But for our folks all of those are $89 per night.
All rooms are non-smoking. Most of the hotels we looked at were also non-smoking and it looked to us like most places are going that route. If it is discovered that someone has smoked in a room, they will be assessed a $250 clean up charge on their bill. So don't smoke in there!

The lady asked me if I wanted a rental car, and I told her how that wouldn't be necessary as this was a car convention so everyone will have their own cars.... BUT then I thought how nice that would be for Alan to set up right then and there lol!

I don't think a Viper plant tour is in the works for this year. IIRC, they have moved production to another plant and the old Viper/Prowler plant (that we toured at SDAC-7) is closed now.

We are looking into other "interesting" items, but they most likely will be announced only at the event, not before. That way if they don't happen it won't be a let down for everyone.

Anyway, I'll poke away at my car. If it's done, I'll be there.

And a question. Are we going to "own" this lot in the back?

if you guys want to get some extra drag racing in before the milan drag day, the detroit street races on friday and saturdays are down on French rd. behind the CITY AIRPORT, the far side of it there is a long strip with no houses or buildings, plenty of 10-13 sec cars there, anything imagineable but alot of mustangs, vettes, TA, camaros, SRT-4s and new hemi cars. its not uncommon to see 2 guys each slap a grand on the hood but there is plent of just for fun races also.

Mrs. Cronk and I are in. Brian and Ileana are riding out with us as well! Eyebrows I sent you a pm if you want to stay over Th. and roll out with us early Fr. am....

BTW (this might already be out there..but I haven't read all 12 pages yet) to all who have not registered at the hotel be aware if you ask for doubles online you will get a message that none are available. I called the hotel and they said that's probably true. I then asked if I could pay in full right now to garauntee a double bed room and he said they do not garauntee rooms. But he did say he will try an accomodate most requests...but I get the feeling it will be a "whomever get's there first scenario" and early arrivals will eat up all the doubles and late arrivals may have slim pickings???

Barry, any comment on this?

When I made our reservations through the sales manager we had been dealing with, I thought her reaction was odd when I mentioned we needed one of our rooms to be a double, but I just shrugged it off as her not being the normal reservation clerk.

So, you guys are not the only ones finding "irregularities" in the way they book rooms. I am going to make a call on this, because I can't see how they won't/don't make the reservation exactly like your request, that just doesn't make any sense.

Thanks Barry, the place looks huge so I don't see why they woudn't have a good amount of double bed rooms. Perhaps if they don't have 2 doubles when I get there I can talk them into a suite or something :-) Maybe if you talk to them you can bring up this issue with them to see if they are at their capacity and truly out?

Heads up: The divided road in the foreground of the map above is Square Lake Rd.
Between the hotel and Woodward Ave. which is a 1/2 mi. west, the speed limit is 50 and the cops hide in the apartment complex just to west of the hotel(to the left of the pool). Be cool, trust me.

Thanks Mike. I had some one else tell me about that exact same speed trap yesterday. He told me the guy will nail for 5 mph over and while the ticket he writes isn't a points ticket, it does cost $135, and there is no use fighting it. We will have a notice in the goody bag about it so folks will be warned.

Mike, are you suggesting the cops may hear our parking lot antics? I don't think so. The area of the lot in the back next to the RR tracks is in a sunken area which will tend to dampen any noise. From the back lot, the first 3-4 floors of the motel cannot be seen, it is down that low.

There are other places in the area you can really step on the gas. I'll give out those in person at the hotel. Of course, you can legally go as fast as you like(as long as you stay on the track) by signing up for the road course day at Waterford Hills.
Make sure to check out a great local watering hole: The Moose Preserve. Go 1/2 mi. west on Square Lake Rd. Hang a right on Woodward Ave. and it's just past the Shell.
