Heres some pics. My transmission is blown, and I only have first gear, so I havnt yet got to take it for a drive. But it does make full boost under 3k RPM. Im actually wanting to sell it to pay off my students loan and to buy a new project. $6.5k and its all yours as is.

ARRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!! SEXY!

Any desire to make another set of exhaust manifolds like that?

I was thinking about something like 2 of these.. It's for my 2.4 motor, but I think 2 of a similar design would go well in the ram.

I'd love to do that one day too, after the 5-speed swap solid axle swap and 360 swap and magnum swap blah blah blah

I just now saw this. Cool! I wish I'd have found one of those trucks before I bought my SS/T.

Are you running some kind of recalibrated ecu?

Nope with the supercharger I was running a booster pump, along with a FMU, and some ford 24# injectors. All piggy back stuff. It put me into the low 13's so I was happy.

With the turbo setup I was going to run a electronic aeromotive FMU. BUt my trans is blown. Due to the cost of magnum parts, and the availabilty that does not exist, im getting out of the magnum.

Im parting out the motor, and everything and most likely doing a HEMI swap. Then maybe after I drive it build a turbo setup for it.:D

You ever thought about an LA swap? I would think that would be much cheaper than a Hemi swap.

Being a '96... I could probably SCT tune that for ya if I had the part number off your pcm. :eyebrows:

So does that mean you'll be selling the turbo manifolds?? OOH OOH let me know.

Yes I have and am still not decided on where I want to go with it. You can get a complete Hemi, with trans, computer harness and everything for about 2500 bucks.

A set of decent heads, and a blow through carburetor and Im already over that abount.

Wow! $2500 is pretty cheap. You can't build a healthy LA 360 for that. The Hemi starts out with more power too. Interesting.

What do you have to do to the trans to make it live? I'm sure they have kits to swap all that into Dakotas. I wonder how hard it would be to get all that to work in my '98 SS/T.

No no kits...lol. If I do this this will be the first gen II Hemi swap I have ever known off.

Actually, it is a 1985 D100 318 truck. As I understand it the manifolds would bolt right up. Obviously a LOT of other work would need to be done.

Ahh, theres a few turbo D100's on theturboforums.com

I would like to try and sell my kit as a whole for another dakota first though. I designed everything to fit my truck, so if I just sell the manifolds...Ill have a downpipe, charge piping, intercooler, bunch of flanges, etc...just sitting here for no use.

build it.... of course a decade+ old stocker built for a 300lb ft 318 isnt gonna like a turbo, but you can put pretty much anything out of a brand new 600+lb ft cummins trans into it. People are modding their cummins and of course they're having trans problems but they're closer to 1000lbft.. you can put the performance diesel stuff in an old 518 and have no problems behind a 500lb ft small block.

I wasn't talking about the 518 transmission. I'm fairly familiar with upgrades on those. I was talking about the new one that is mated to the Hemi.

I really have no clue about that. Thats too far ahead in the game to worry about right now. Beside I dont deal with trans too much. Im more of a fab, and wiring guy.:thumb:

Thats good to hear...I bet you seen alot of 44re/46re transmission though.

The 46re is a good trans that can handle a lot of power IF you take care of it. Just putting an external cooler on and adjusting the bands regularly you will extend it's life 2-3 times more.

I had an external cooler, and I kept the band adjusted. It went out at 145k miles. At 110k miles I installed the supercharger. I think it lasted a good amount of time actually.:D

yeh thats not bad..true that if you take care of em they will last, but putting power through them makes a huge difference. my dads a500 made it to 204k before i took it out and that was just because of leaking seals.. we towed huge loads and worked the hell out of it, but never put more than like 220lb ft to it :p

yeh we saw a LOT of 518s and variants, diesels especially.. if dodge had had a decent transmission to put behind the diesels earlier in the decade thered be a lot more owners right now.. a LOT of people were put off those trucks by all the tranny failures.
