I know not many people are really into these because they are so limited in top end, but I love my VNT25 and want to upgrade to a VNT28, and I'm wondering what my options for a larger SV would be, and what the benefits will be.

Mine will overspool a bit in the cold, but not terribly. That said, stock exhaust. Opened up, say 2.5" all the way, I'd be worried about overspooling.

End goal is not to have the fastest VNT around (not doing any weight reduction as a start), but to have a really enjoyable street car, ie: throttle response, broad power band, fast but good mileage, and all the luxuries it came with plus a few goodies.

Hmm...well I plan to clean up mine a bit prior to install, but I am not sure if it'll improve the flow much. I had the elbow machined to fit a 3 inch exhaust since it crushed the 2.5 gasket (note 3 inch gasket and 2.5 exhaust elbow don't fit no matter what) and has had a nice exhaust leak for quite a while...
