Heard about using toyota 4 cylinder valves in our heads for a cheap oversized valve a while back. Has anyone done this and what needs to be done to use them. I have dodge heads and toyota heads laying around but theyre all together so i cant measure them cause its way too cold out (no heat in garage). Any info at all please, thanks.

Yah ive seen that one. Ive done some research. The 22RTEC (22r turbo motor) has the same length/diameter valves as our swirl heads. But the intake is 45mm intake/37mm exhaust. Sounds kinda big to be fitting in our heads but maybe not impossible. I would think it would be better to do some port work and go with a +1 or +2mm max oversize valve. The only part im unsure of is the sizes of the keepers between valves. I have some 22rtec valves on order so i can figuire more out.

Several years ago I did my own big valve conversion on a G head. I found that the old Nissan 240/260/280 motors have some 44mm valves with stems long enough to cut down to whatever length I needed. For the exhaust I used some 38mm pieces from a Nissan 200SX, also long enough to cut to size. I cut the keeper grooves 1/16" higher for more spring height and used intake keepers for all the valves. I got all these for 50 cents a valve at the junkyard (I did have to take them out but heck, it beats paying $120 or more when money is tight).:D
