Well my quest to bring my brother over to TM's has failed. My dad just bought my uncle steves 1966 mustang for him. Hes only 14 and the mustang beeds a lot of work but hes super happy. Anyone know some good websites/forums about modding classic stangs? I know absolutely nothing about V8's and want to learn more. He wants too keep it stock and Im trying to talk him into modding it abit. So the more I know the more I can teach him.

Thanks

C'mon over to FordMuscle.com

'66 Mustang... nice. Coupe or fastback? Personally I would never put one of my kids in a 4-wheel drum brake, old engineering suspension car for his FIRST vehicle. But, hey, I survived and I drove a '65 Mustang when I was 16.

Its a coupe. My dad sais the same thing. Hes gonna convert it to 4 wheel disk brakes. Im trying to get my brother to convert it to 5 speed but he wants it to stay stock. :( Once he hits about my age he'll realize that 5 speeds are more fun. lol

Damn thats sweet. But ya the fastbacks are really the only mustangs I like. There were just way to many regular mustangs made in the first place. You see them everywhere so thats why Im not a big fan. But it will be fun for him.

It could have been worse; at least he did not get a Honda.

66? Eh, good resale value but too small for my taste in V8 cars. I've driven a 67 GT convertible and it was OK, but still small.
I have to admit my all time favorite car is a 69 Boss 429 stang, would rather have that than even a 70' Hemi cuda :banplease: :bolt:

But I'll never have either so it doesn't matter LOL. I would take a 69 Mach 1 with a 351C though, those are getting pretty darn expensive too.

Ya like I said I was never a real big mustang fan. Too many made. Noe my favorite car of all time is a 69 Chevelle Super Sport. Theres just something about them. Then of course comes the 64 GTO which I would also die for lol.

Yeah I gotta admit a 64-65 GTO with the 389 tri-power would be nice!

speaking of fords anyone who follows nascar remember the old mid 80's t-bird dale Sr. was running with the wrangler paint scheme. I've always wanted to make a replica of that but street legal.

The "back in the day" nascar was waaaaay cool...before it was so commercialized and it was anything other than a "gearhead sport".

I always loved Geoff Bodine's "Levi Garrett" scheme...and Darrel Waltrip's "Mountain Dew" scheme...and several others that take me back to when I thought nascar was cool.

sorry to get off topic;)

I love nascar but I think they should have there own series for STOCK CARS! Of course I dont mean stock engine suspension but they should have a stock body like back in the good old days.

LOL, no offense to you guys liking nascar, but this is strictly my opinion. Nascar is kinda dumb, I mean they're making a left turn.......another left turn.........another left turn.......left turn........zzzzzzzzzzz

Ya but more personal then indy car racing etc. Plus going to the races is SO much fun. And not all of nascar is left hand turns there are a few road courses lol.

I've been to a nascar race once, the cars pass by you in about 3 seconds in a blurr, and then you wait a minute to see that again.

I guess its just an acquired taste. lol. I personally love the races. It is a redneck sport but its fun as hell. Love the smell of burnt rubber and gasoline!

Hey, to each their own, I understand that. This would be one boring azz world if we all liked the same thing. Cheers.

The brakes are easily taken care of, go to a junkyard and find a granada, zephyr etc.
those cars have 11" front discs and they are a DIRECT swap to your '66.
just use the '71 and later outer tie rod end and a master from teh same year of car you stole the spindles off of.
i did the granada swap on my '68 torino for less than $200 with new rotors, calipers, hoses, bearings and master cyl.

Yep I can't say we can justifiably hate on anyone for buying something from the musclecar era, but damned if we will EVER!!! condone the ricer movement. Its like the disco era... WE WILL NOT MISS YOU WHEN YOUR GONE.

WE WILL NOT MISS YOU WHEN YOUR GONE.

Ill miss totally owning them in a street race. And ill miss laughng at people who think their car is fast cause of its looks.
