I've been looking at a few Cummins powered trucks to replace my 1990 D-350. I found one on Craigslist (http://nashville.craigslist.org/car/557368669.html) for $8600. It has over 276k miles on it, but it is a Cummins. My 1990 Cummins powered D-350 has over half a million miles on it, so the mileage on the engine shouldn't be that big of a thing. He says the transmission shifts great. He thinks it may have been rebuilt or replaced before he bought the truck 2 years ago. He claims that there is nothing wrong with it except for some clear coat problems and a small crack in the dash. He just doesn't need the truck anymore. It also has brand new tires on it.
I'm going to go look at it tomorrow after work. Is there anything I should look for on the 24 valve engine?

According to Kelly Blue Book, it would be worth over $10k in fair condition. It is probably somewhere between fair condition and good condition. The way he described it, it is closer to good condition.

I looked at a 1997 3500 dually extended cab with a manual transmission Saturday. It was really nice, but he wants $11,600 for it. It's been well maintained but www.kbb.com lists it around $10,000.
What do you think? Should I keep looking?
