Hi all,
I've been a member of TurboDodge and Allpar for about 5 years now, and I figured I may as well join here as well.

My first vehicle was an '86 LeBaron, 2.2L T-I. I owned it for about 2 years and sold it to buy my current turbo mopar, my '90 Daytona Shelby, 2.5L T-I, her name is "Shebby". I'm currently working on a complete restoration of her, including a complete stock rebuild of the motor and transmission, paint and body work. It had always been a dream of mine to integrate a t-top into my car, but I think that might be a bit extreme for me at this juncture.

A bit about me on a personal note...I'm a 26 (gonna be 27 in one week) married mom of 2, I live in Crossville, TN and I'm a produce manager. Not really interesting or exciting, but info about me nonetheless, LOL.

No, actually that was me and my stupidness, LOL...When I got the car my oldest was 1 and didn't talk much so, she was named before he could even come close to pronouncing it, LOL.

You know, I can never seem to pick the ripe melons:o Most fruits and veggies give you clues if they are nice and ripe, but Cantalope's Honeydew's and Watermelons are just a wild a$$ guess for me. Any tips? Welcome BTW:thumb:

Yes, actually. Knock on it...if it has a nice deep hollow echo, it's ripe!

Thanks for the welcome, BTW!

Welcome! I used to have a co-worker named Kevin Burge who lived in Crossville. He moved away 3 or 4 years ago, I think.

Alan, it took me a minute to figure out what the heck you were talking about. :)

Wow, if I read that right you are a MOM of 2 correct? Before that you said you are the TD "nut"... Does your hubbie like TD's? Is this his main drive or yours? I am always a big fan of chicks who dig cars, so you would definitely be a welcome addition to "the force" here on TM.... :amen:

Oh, and btw, Shebby is just another name for GM branded quality... ;):D

Aw C'mon, I hadn't even thought of that:angel: I just really really love produce:) Besides, I'm the oldest guy here, I graduated high school in 1920 according to one informed source here...

It would be nice if you decide to stick around, the boy/girl ratio here could always use help;)

No actually my husband is a ricer, LOL....he loves Nissans, really riced out Nissans, those with big high wings on the back and everything. I'm always making fun of him for it too...I'm definately the TD nut in this house...the kids like anything that has wheels. I think they actually like our Chevy Blazer best out of all our vehicles.

Well he has a Nissan 240sx that he did a Silvia front end on...completely custom, it took him 2 years, he barely left our garage. He's obsessed with that car...he's put so much time and money into it, and I'm ecstatic to be on the road to restoring my car now....mine won't take 2 years though, LOL.

And yeah...I know it sound like Chevy...but it isn't, and that's the most important thing!

I'd love to, but he has put tons more cash into his car than what I can afford to put into mine. I mean like...6 times more. One day...LOL.

Maybe sooner than later because the turbo in his car is shot and I'm looking to buy a new one for mine, LOL.

LOL actually....the motor is completely out of the car, being rebuilt...the transmission is out and at a shop, being rebuilt. I'd say those are a few major issues, wouldn't you?

And his car has a few things on mine...it's a 5-speed for one...I've driven it, and it's pretty mean. Has an LSD and a japanese J-Spec motor...turbo is failing though. He still drives it like it's stolen though.

Some of the fastest TD's are auto....

Heck with two 'properly tuned' zip ties you could up your boost and fuel pressure for a couple fun blasts! Wait, wait, wait...that's not really a good idea. I'd hate to have you kill a fresh motor :D

No, we're doing it right. It's gonna be a stock rebuild but I'm gonna try and get a T-II setup if I can find one for sale.

CRAP! Just got the word my head is cracked!!! CRAP CRAP CRAP!

Hey, you guys wouldn't happen to know if I can use a 2.2 head, would you?

87glhs232
01-29-2008, 10:43 PM
Your gonna want a 782 'swirl' head. Pretty common. How/where is it cracked? It is very common to have cracks between valves in the combustion chamber area, and most are still ok to use.

Shebby, of the 20 or so heads I've pulled off turbo cars, they have all had some cracks there, only two didn't hold pressure. And one of those was a $35. weld to fix it. So mostl likely, your head is fine.
