i bought them from some guy on TD.com a cuple months ago. he said they were forged but didnt know the brand.... i've had pistons like this on one of my other motors and they worked pretty good. i didnt know much about tuning then so i ended up wrecking them. i was planning on getting them notched and useing them in my 16v.
any idea what they are?

They look like OEM replacement 2.5 Turbo I pistons. They're definitely NOT forged. See the crosshatching under the crown? You can't do that with a forging. That's a cast piston.

Are you sure? The wrist pin is pretty close to the oil ring...

2.5L have no side skirting extending down that far. It would hit the crank

And the dish is too small for the 2.5
Looks like a Silvolite from Autozone if you ask me.
Does it have an "S" on the side near the wrist pin?

not that i can see no. on the under side of the dish (inside of the piston) it has 618 on one side and the other side has a D and a 1 in the middle. then this on the inner side of the skirt.

Forged pistons don't have casting marks underneath like those do.It would be nice if someone had some pics of the underside of any forged piston to post here,as I am sure there is alot of people that have not seen forged before and would appreciate seeing the visual differences.(I dont have any)

They definatley look like 2.5L pistons, the pin is up by the oil ring land, the dish is really deep, and yes, as mentioned, they are cast, :(
