My dad just picked up a 1994 New Yorker 3.5L and when the car warms up it does not shift correctly. It will stay in first or second. When the car is cold it shift fine. I wonder if anyone is familar with this issue and way to correct it.

Thanks,
Joe

Well, after *5* transmissions in our Intrepid, I'm all too famialliar with the 42LE!!

Make sure it has the special Mopar ATF, might be the wrong viscosity for it.

The "E" stands for electronic, might be a shift selinoid issue....

tranny limp mode? I thought they go instantly into 2nd gear where they stay if the computer sees an issue?

R/T I'll let him know tonight. I was thinking a solenoid or sensor. I had a faulity crank sensor on my Volvo and once the car got warm the car it would not run.

id suspect input or outpu speed sensors on the tranny first. they are cheap and easy. see if you can get someone to check it with a scanner.
