Well, the cams for my project T3 are junk, I need a set ASAP. Anyone have some they'll sell me? I'm really only interested in stock cams right now...

Sidenote... how are they junk??

Rusty from being left sitting in the trunk unprotected, cam noses are heavily pitted, etc.

Mine are pitted grooved gouged folded spindled and mutalated. Tried to buy a new (used) set with no luck. Called delta cams (Simon recommended) and they seem to think they can be saved. Cant hurt to let them look.

try Lonewolf performance also, he probably could repair them

Tried to contact Lonewolf. No phone and no email reply. Any updated contact info?.
Cindy does have a few cams. Price is high but if all else fails.
Would have been nice if Simon had enough interest a while back to have some made. Including myself seems that there is a flurry of new t-3 builds ongoing.

Did you send them your cams first? Or pictures? I guess I can call them tonight, I have time on my side with them (3hr time zone dif).

I called them and explained in detail the damage to lobes and journals. They did not seem fazed by what I told them. Asked me to ship them so they could give me a acurate price. Figure it is worth the cost of shipping.

What do they charge to repair them?

karlak
01-09-2008, 05:09 PM
45 dollars per cam for a stock regrind
12.50 for each weld (lobes).
Any other repairs as needed and will quote before doing work.

Wow, that's seriously reasonable...

I'll have to give them a call.

Any cam can be saved, they just weld up the nose, then regrind and reharden. Its the cost that scares people as for most cars, you can get new cams for cheap.

I sent a cam to Zin, so we will see what his machinist friend says.

Stock or stage 1?

They are stock, Delta didn't offer Stage 1 when I had these done, I did ask though.

Doh! too slow on the draw with the PayPal for Hemlock's cams...

Still looking. I guess I'll give Delta a call today, too. But if anyone has a decent set of cams, let me know...

These guys might become the T3 cam experts if they do a good job. Mine are probably in need of rebuilding. 150K miles and the previous owner was one of those "dont fix it until it explodes" kind of guys.... I'm going to go change the oil right now. Guess I should pull the VC's and take a peek... http://www.differentracing.com/forum/images/smilies/ohnoes.gif

I have one set packed ready to ship. Was holding off untill I get my hands on this second motor to see how they looked. If they are like everyone else they will need work too. Group deal would be great!

OK, I finally got around to calling Delta. They (now) want $62.50/cam for a stock regrind and $93.50/cam for the 'Torque' grind. +$12/lobe if welding is needed. They will call you and quote it before doing the work. I'm sending mine in this week...

They did mention doing about 4 sets of T3 cams in the last month. Anyone on here?

turbovanmanČ

So they've gone up about $50 for the stage 1's. Bastards, :(

I think it's every vendor's nightmare when word gets around who does their machining/repair for them... Just speculating of course:D

Delta does thier own work. He mentioned that the turn-around was same-day. He has 5 guys doing nothing but cam machining. Or did you mean they are the supplier to one of our vendors? :)

Yeah, I was kinda talking about the latter statement you made. They gotta be doing 4 sets for someone unless Jackson sent the cams in from like 1/4 of his fleet:D

Got mine back with the performance grind a couple weeks ago. They must have just gone up on the price. Still a good deal considering the options.
