So, I went out today and started work on installing my freshly painted grill and bumper. I got the bumper installed (used RTV to attach it in the front:eyebrows:) and the grill ALMOST installed. I got the CSX header panel put in and just rested the grill in there for the pics. I still have to attach it.....thats for another day.

So, a year and a half after purchasing the car almost completely stripped of Shelby parts, ive got it almost all together. I think the only shelby specifics I lack are the valve cover and the Mobil 1 plaque.

So heres some pics....................

This is how its looked since I bought the car:

now, get the fiberrides done up, and you get some girls to work for you, and you've reached pimp status...

Ive been debating about what I want to do with the fiberides. Im gonna restore them.....no doubt. The question is do I run with them or only put them on for special occasions like the SDAC car show? Do you think the fiberides look better or my AR rims?

those ar rims.. look like a ugly stripper with pimples all over her ---... they are clown shoes.

keep the fiberides for show, and get another set of rims for go...

some 16" pumpers would look good. some all black pumpers would be tits.

I agree except I think you should paint the 16" pumpers gold like the fiberides.

^^ thats a really gold idea. good pumpers would look great and you wouldn't have to worry about plastic wheels.

looks great but is the bumper pushed up in the middle?

WOW. Didnt know you had such a thing for my AR rims. I didnt think they were THAT bad. Actually, I kind of like them......but WHAT-EV-ER!

Maybe slasky will sell his pumpers?

^^

Yea, there is no bumper support behind it......so my temporary cob job consisted of hanging the bumper from the grill with zip ties.:o You can kind of see the red zip ties in the first pic if you look close). I guess the area that hung from the ties is now bowed up a bit. Now that I have the bumper mounted on a bracket underneith, I think it will settle back down in time.

It looks way better than it did. I would get some pumpers and paint them gold. That suggestion sounded great to me.

+53... get the fiberrides cleaned up and spiffy for the shows and then find either some pumpers painted like mantioned or, I've seen some nice cross-laced wheels that looked good on a CSX. However, they were NOT the OEM style GTC's, but "wide rim" aftermarket ones like the GM cars.

Damn haters lol I kinda liked them too. AR < Fiberrides any day though. Keep the fiberrides for show.

BTW, very nice job. The color doesnt match exactly perfect but you cant expect that from aged paint. Paint up your window moulding now. Then itll look real good. That dull black hah.

The paint is a little off......it sticks out the worst on the grill. I might paint the header panel.

looks good. so you did make a bumper support? i hope that RTV holds. I assume you wiped everything with acetone first? how did you hold it in place while the RTV dried?

i could care less what the AR's look like. they are 7" wide imo. thats all that matters.

if you ever want to get rid of them/trade, lemme know 1st. thanks

Brian

PS, i have 16" gtc lace wheels and 15" gtc lace wheels if you want to trade ever.

Yea, I made a bumper support....... basicly just a plastic bracket that holds the bumper up from underneith. Its not structural, like a bumper support.....it just holds the bumper in place.

There are 4 bolts holding the airdam at the wheel wells. That seems to do the majority of the work. I dont even think I needed the RTV, but I decided to go with it. Once I put the license plate back on, im gonna run those screws through both the inner and outer bumper and that will top it off. It isnt going anywhere.

The lace wheels are an option. But, honestly.....I like the AR's. They look better in person IMOP. Mark is a big gazer so his opinion doesnt count. And the rest of these guys are just jumping on the band wagon.:lol::lol: Im gonna do up the fiberides.......too bad I have to worry about them falling apart on me....otherwise I would just roll with them.

Looks very good. I thought it would need to be above a certain temperature for the RTV to hold. Is it warmer there than it looks?

The fiberides would look great of course, but I would worry about wheel failure like I've heard about a lot. I don't drive mine too much, so I am going to run with my fiberides, just depends how and how much you plan to drive it.

Getting some pumpers painted (or powdercoated) gold would be one way, or some Shelby lancer black wheels would look good too, and keep the Shelby theme.

Nice work!

It's looking good!

For the headlights (works on the tail-lights also if your gentle on the black areas). Wet sand with 1000 grit until your arm is sore, follow that with 1500 grit, then a good rubbing compound, then a nice glaze = like new again. Use a lot of water when sanding just like your would on paint.

Nice. Thanks. I will try that.

I heard somewhere that buffing with toothpaste will do it.
Anyone?

I've tried that before, and it was an improvement, but still didn't provide results as nice as wet-sanding and buffing.

eh, personally i liked the stock normal grille instead. but to each his own. this one looks too "open" to me. the AR rims are fine if you ask me for daily use, i'd rock them at least. but yes, the fiberrides would be sweet for weekends, shows, etc.

I used the Ever Wear Headlight Restoration Kit on my stratus and that worked really well. I think I bought it for $15, I'll see if I can find another if your interested.

Whats wrong with American Racing rims? I have the fiberides......its just that they are death traps......and I would prefer not to ruin them.

As for your gazing......thats what they all say.:D

im just busting on you for the AR rims...

AR rims just remind me of few things... camaros and monte carlos from the 80's, and chevy cavaliers with the AR sticker on the windshield....

maybe that and no matter what rim you run, i still eat your dust. :)

You know, this pontiac sunbird wheel was posted here a while ago, and it has a fiberide look. I believe it fits too. Get a set, fill in the 'Pontiac' engraved on it, paint them gold, and have 15x6 metal 'fiberides' for running around, and save the real ones for show.

sunbird is 5x100 as they are a GM jbody IMO.

Well even though I sold my Omni I am still going to put in my 2 cents...

1) I prefer the stock "non-csx" grill...just personal opinion

2) The AR rims look great (you can always change your center cap :eyebrows:)...keep the fiberrides for shows.

3) I am not sure you have the patience to properly wetsand/buff your headlights...

Nice work!

Well, that was the main reason why I always hated body work.....I dont have the patience......I must be getting old or something because I actually enjoyed it this time. Took my time.....no rush.....little by little......and it turned out well.

Now, to get you back into a turbo mopar.....
