Hey guys,

Started up the ol' SMEC conversion process again. But I have a few questions:

On the van bulkhead, # 1 is a red wire with a white tracer labeled 'battery feed'. What is this for, specifically?

What are the 'Ambient Air Sensor' wires for? Is that for the navigator, or somesuch thing that I probably don't even have?

Probably the wires to the little sensor in frt of the radiator--displays outside air temp on the direction and temp overhead counsel in a NYer, your red wire is probably the main feed to the ignition switch--you can find it under autozone wiring-- bobr19

The Caravans came with lots of options/gadgetry that other cars (particularly L-bodies) can't or don't use. Some of the circuits may end up being unused.

Yeah, roger that. I have a computer in my garage, right next to the project, and when i got a little frustrated, i posted.

The battery feed was red on one harness, and black on the other, but was in the same general position, and was the same size wire...so i think that's right. Only time will tell, really, as I don't even have the thing in the car right now.

Ok, here's a question:

The last wire I have to snip off the caravan harness is the #38 BK/PK* Check Engine Warning Lamp.

Where does that go on the 85 bulkhead?

Part of me laguely remembers that it goes someplace not on the bulkhead....but the other part of me thinks I'm an idiot for thinking that. ;)

On the '85 harness, is one of the wires for the "Power Loss" light? If so, connect it to that. That's the wire that drives the light for checking codes.

IIRC, the wires were different colors between the years. Hope this helps.
