Cruise control erratic with temperature

When the outside temperature is cold, my cruise control slowly decelerates. When it is hot outside, the cruise jumps and lurches to maintain speed instead of being smooth. Which component should I suspect? '92 Voyager 3.3 auto.

Did you check codes and see if you're getting a speed sensor code?

I had one with a hairline crack in the plastic. Fine when wet, no workie when dry.
