Going off the underside pics I would say the car has very little rust. At least for Nebraska.

Not wasting any time are you? On the trailer yesterday, motor is out this morning, at that rate the Daytona will be running TIII power by Saturday:eyebrows:

My love just came to a screaching halt......... :(
Pics are not the best. Started tearing down the motor and found 4 missing rockers on the exhaust side. The cam is wiped out. It looks like they used galvanized steel pipe slid over the rocker shaft in place of the rockers. There is evidence of piston/head contact but no damage. I hope with new rockers, shaft and cam this head can be rebuilt and saved.

I am sorry to laugh but thats just funny, and pretty smart at the same time.

Delta cams can do a regrind for $150 for stage 1, its a few threads down. The head would have to be pretty bad not to be fixable.

There was a guy on eBay selling individual TIII rockers recently. I bought a few from him and they were in great shape and cheap!

I guess it's a 12 valve head now. It's amazing that someone would do that but I suppose anything to sell the car to an unsuspecting person.

Thats a real cheap way to keep it running. look on the bright side, its a factory cast head;)

I wouldn't call it funny, but definatly a clever fix for some wiped out lobes/rockers. I'm sure with just four valves working on that shaft power was down a bit, but it probably still ran decent... Cams are fixable, parts are out there if you search and spend;)

I had a rust stop like that on my 88, had a couple pin holes holes, wouldnt pass inspection, i cut it out, went out back, grabbed an old fender, cut out a square, pop riveted it in, sealed with silicone. Passed then.
