seen this on ebay don't see too many like this. are those engines any good?

I think what the auction says is the car has a mitsu diesel from a dodge truck. I have never heard anything bad about mitsubishi's diesels, in fact I think the Japanese made some really great diesels in that era.

It must be there to help with the noise from the engine, those old diesels are fairly noisy.

Heh, interesting car.

A little googling tells me this is a well thought of industrial motor, used in excavators fork lifts etc.

Apparently can be hooked up to a 727 tranny, would imagine with some adapter plate. Used to do about 22mpg in a '78 D250 power wagon by accounts. Would imagine you can see 25-30 in that body.

Dammit, why is the interesting stuff rare, sounds like a fun project to stick one in a later Dippy or Norker or something.
