Can I replace the shortblock in my Shadow and one from a 3000GT? Will the SOCH heads bolt up? Any other issues?

I may be able to get one real cheap so I've got to know...

Thanks,
David

The heads will bolt on. However, IMO, it would be too much work to make them work. I do know the timing belt tensioner is not in the same location.

I know there are other differences that I am forgetting. It's been a while since I studied this topic.

technically... yes they will physically bolt up, but there are a ton of required changes. Not worth it IMO.

The word "replace" doesnt really fit.

More like build a whole new engine setup.

You can buy a 3000gt sohc motor but all you are doing is creating problems. different 6g72's and other 6g7x motors have the oil filter placements in different spots etc.

The phrase "never ending project" is more accurate then 'replace" :P

Don't those motors spin backwards?

NO, they spin in the same direction as ours. They're just mounted backwards.

Exactly. Not worth doing it in my opinion. The project will dollar you to death.

If you want a crazy project, the thing to do is get MIVEC sohc heads from the 4g eclipses. Apparently they have insane flow capabilities (better then heads on the ls7).
