I am in the market for a low miles original GLHS (Omni only) in excellent condition ideally located in the upper Midwest.

My father purchased one of these new back in the summer of '86 and I learned how to drive a stick shift on this car. Regrettably, he got rid of it long ago and I'm on the search to find another. It still brings back good memories.

Thanks.

They pop up on ebay every once in a while and there are guys on the forum that put them up for sale once in a great while...... But, this is one of the most sought after shelby dodges. Shelby only made 500 of them. Expect to pay a good buck for a low mileage car in really nice shape.

And welcome to the forum.:welcome:

Thanks for the response.

Yep, I'm fully aware of this car's popularity, history, and value. I've had my eye out on these forums and on ebay for a little while now and just haven't seen much that hasn't been snapped up pretty quickly. I'm just hoping someone that may be on the fence about parting with theirs sees this thread :)

Welcome to the site! I don't know of any in the area that are up for sale right now off-hand, but wish you the best with your search. Whereabouts in WI are you located? I'm just south of the border..

Thanks for all the well wishes. I am in Madison, WI. Unfortunately I haven't seen too many listings in the state of WI (more in MI, IL, and MN).

It's fine. I'm in no hurry and sort of enjoy the process of "the hunt" for the perfect car that will suit me.

They are great; aren't they? The hunt is a good part of it. I have waited awhile, missed 2 long distance 86S cars and I am waiting on the delivery of the third from 16000 miles away that I bought after 36 photos and many conversations on the phone 11 1/2 months ago. I can't believe the Chicago chapter keeps getting bigger.

There was a gentleman on the boards recently who was also seeking a low mileage all original 86 GLHS and claimed to have located a handful of them. I can't recall his name offhand, but maybe someone else can to put you in contact with him. Perhaps he can fill you in with some contact info on those that he ended up not buying. He did find one, but he was willing to spend $$$. Not sure what your budget is, as that may play a role in how low of miles you're seeking as well as originality. Best of luck!

Yes, I believe you are referring to sy2206. I've already sent him an email message to what I thought was his email address. I haven't yet heard back...I should probably PM him to be sure. I too am willing to spend the money for the right car. Thanks.

I'm buying a 30K original miles 86 GLHS in IL, but the body doesn't exactly have good paint... might be for sale again in a year or so.

Check B&G Chrysler Specialists in Warren, Mi. They have a low mileage one for $10k. Not very easy to deal with from what i heard but if you have the $$$$ you can get a nice GLHS. Do a google search for "B&G Chrysler Specialists" and you'll find their site. they have quite a few shelby dodges and some rare race cars & maserati stuff too.

There's one out in San Diego painted an awful yellow but the seller claims it has 16K original miles. Not sure why a 16K 86S car would need a yellow paint job if it was in SD all it's life but anyway, it's out there. He's asking $7500. Saw the link on the Detroit Craigslist -- search GLHS.

As for price, if it's what he claims, I think that's a steal. I wouldn't take a penny less than $7900 for mine.

I was about to mention that yellow one. Love to call the guy just to ask him......"Whats with the yellow?!"
