I'm new to this sight so is it too forward of me to summit my '87 GLHS for a potential COTM candidate? At present I own two '87 Chargers, one a standard black/silver Dodge Shelby, the second a GLHS - which is now my daily driver. Both cars appeared in an article I did for an English car magazine 'Classic American' earlier this year.
The SC is off the road with a head gasket problem, making the GLHS (0693) my daily driver. I have owned the GLHS since Oct 05 and the SC since Oct 04. I am the GLHS's third owner since the car has been this side of the pond. The car was originally purchased from Jim Sarvas Dodge Inc, Sharon PA in April '87 - I have the original invoice and title along with all the Shelby Prep sheets and warranty cards. The car was imported to England in '91 with 22,654 miles on the clock, since then it has done 10,000, 3,000 being done by me. The car has proved bullet proof. I have kept it completly stock and intend to keep it that way. The only things I have done to it is to replace the nose 'GLHS' decal and tidy up the stripe - again on the nose, and replaced the rear tailgate struts as they didn't hold the tailgate up (they don't on the other Charger either - must be a design fault). As far as I'm aware there are two more of these vehicles in England, one owned by 'Holley' - #0622, and #0112 owned by Sam Agnew (I haven't heard anything confirming the location of this vehicle).
This car is a blast to drive (so's the SC when its going and will be again once I do the head gasket), and nobody here has a clue what it is except for a few US Navy guys on base. That's the way I like it - keep 'em tail light gazing and guessing!! For pictures of both vehicles check out my albums in turbo-mopar.com. ( I can't seem to attach my pictures to this message - it's getting late and I need a beer so forgive me for being selfish here!!)
