Knife edging the crank and polishing it... With proper oil control, is there still HP to be picked up here?

from what i have read yeah ..... the weight reduction alone is worth it and secondary is increased oil shedding ability. i would do it to mine except i cant find anyone in the area able to do it.

I thought about doing it... but it was like $150 or $175. I did get it balanced though.

If you loose 8lbs of rotating mass before the gears, you can typically gain performance of the equivelent of loosing around 200lbs off the car. That is huge.

Would knife-edging a forged crank offset the weight difference between it and a cast crank?

Here's some Ducati Crankshaft Balancing (http://www.foxperformanceengines.com/crank.htm) info. Interesting what they do to the crank! :eyebrows:

that is sweet
how did the car act with the knifed crank? reason i ask is cause ive tried some lighter flywheel/clutch combos on my brothers toyota circle track car and the car was SLOWER. just didnt seem to have any yank coming off the corner. I know we lost some stored up energy, and a clutch/flywheel isnt the crank but same difference i guess.
