Are there really no other options that a TU header (w/ only a chrysler flange) and a ported stocker?

I want to run a GT3071R, but they don't come in a Chrysler flange. What options are out there?

I have money and am willing to pay 500-600 range for a good header w/ correct fitment and the universal flange everyone but us uses!

Your better off with the GT3076R and TU header. Its easier and the difference between the turbos will not be that substantial. I just bought a GT3076R.

And TU can sell a 3076R machined into a chryco flange!

You can buy the TU header with a T3 flange, you have to ask Chris, and its extra, of course,

Chris told me he doesn't do a T3 flange anymore only the chrysler. He said they didn't fit right or something like that:confused:

PM Stephane. He's about the only person in this TD community that thinks that you should lean away from ported stock this and ported stock that. I have one of his equal length headers and it works great! Otherwise, you might have build your own haha.

Hmmmmm, news to me, I guess he changed his mind.

The only other person I know is Typert, I am running his T3 Flanged log header. I had some fitment issues but I got around them. I know Kevin F isn't have good luck with it, but I am sure they can figure it out.

I had two of Typert's headers...they both sucked! I got it worked out with Chris & the turbo I want, but if he wouldn't have obliged I would have had SMP build me one for sure.

If you have any access to machining and welding equipment you can make your own with not too much trouble. I started mine and it's coming along OK. Then you can put what ever turbo flange you want on. I can throw up a .dxf file of the flange I got laser cut and one of the turbo flange as well (I'm just doing the turbo flange on a manual mill) if anyone is interested. Then you can just send the file/s to a laser cutter, get the flanges cut, buy some elbows for 40 bucks and have fun fabricating. Just the way I think anyway. Here's a link to what I am doing. Nothing revolutionary but because I'm doing it myself it will be exactly what I want.

Threw them on the cardomain site and hosted them that way. Hope it works now. All that for something that is no where near ground breaking. I just like building stuff myself so I know what I'm getting. Maybe a little too paranoid that way plus it's fun.

+1 for the dont go with a type rt header. mine was horrible. one of the worst dealings ive ever had with the td group. I used up all of my dremel bits (over 10) on trying to clean the thing up and it still looked bad when I put it on. Plus i had to modify all the lines anyway, wasnt stock location like stated. If the head comes off a tu is going on, assuming they have one in stock at the time.

It won't be completly done but I should have the main body tacked together if not copmletely welded. I'll bring it by. I had to pull my engine this weekend so that's my current priority.

I had sections where the two pieces of pipe were joined that had a one side raised 1/8" horrible ridges everywhere. at the corners around the turbo flange they were a 1/4" overhang. Thats just a little off from the smooth finish you want for an exhaust manifold. It took him a month past the date he told me id have it by and looks like he just slapped it together in an afternoon.

I seriously need to look at it again... it has been ~3 years and materials have doubled.

I put an interest thread out on TD a long time ago and there were enough people interested to do it, however there were several skeptics too.

It is still on my to do list, just not at the top, and I would want to verify performance gains to back it up beforehand as well.

yes, just whining. It gets old - when you don't have a lot of choices. Making these things takes practice - IF you spread the word that they are crap chances are there will be no more practice to make things right.

I refunded money to Dodgez and a few others that said the manifolds didn't fit, then, sold them to someone else that said they fit fine. Not saying what they told me was not the truth, just saying - some people are thankful that manifolds are even being made and will grind here or there and then give me feedback.

I have all of the parts if you want to make your own. Give it a try.

I can understand the frustration, been there done that but I guess having a van makes it easier, :thumb:

It was alot of work to make it fit but hopefully you made changes to what I found, ;) Your right, theres not many choices and I bought it for price, lol! I have too much time and not enough money. But as you say, practice makes perfect.

BTW, I have around 15-20 K on it and its still ok, no crack, leaks etc. :D

if badassperformance is still testing for performance gains, ill be more then willing to help, just send me one, Ill put it on, do a dyno run before and after if you sponcer me or discount me a header. otherwise ill be more then willing to buy one outright and tell you my car is now faster and spools like a mofo! quit holdin out and lets get the ball rollin! what does it take to get it at the top of that list of yours? I just cant wait till its out. it seems like the most promising header made yet. good luck!

As soon as I have it off of the car for more than 15 minutes I'll be using it to make up some jigs...

Well do I have to come to Chicago to help you get the dang head off so you can start to make them ????

Or do I have to buy the whole car to get the header ???
