I found a decent deal on a 2.4 block that was a reman from chrysler, it is bored .02 over and comes with a head cams and valve cover. Supposedly its from a stratus/cloud car. But the owner can't remember what year it came from, is there any way to tell on the casting what year it is similar to turbomopars?

sorry i'm a bit new to the 2.4 thing and I am slowly going to be piecing together a 2.4 turbo setup for my charger.

also is there anything I should be watching out for?

The easiest way to ID a 1gen 2.4 motor.

The oil filter location. The filter is under the crank pulley.

You can pull the upper timing belt cover. See if the cam gears say 2.4 or 2.0

The valve cover says 2.4.

The timing belt covers usually have some details on them. Mine has a decal declaring 2.4.

NGC 2.4s have the crank sensor up front, and older 2.4s have the crank sensor close to the oil filter in the back of the motor. Also, 2.4s don't have a hydraulic tensioner cylinder thing like the 2.0 do.

The very early ones do, 95-96, think it was changed in late 96
