If i had the entire car wire harness, plus a 87' donor car, how hard would the wiring swap be?

My car was totaled and i found a 88 shell to swap parts to.

Thank you in advance.

They are different. '87 used the Logic Module/Power Module combo, and had a bulkhead connector at the firewall. '88 had the SMEC and had a large rubber plug at the firewall with all the connections under the dash.

That being said, I don't think it would be terribly difficult, just time consuming. Swap the dash harness along with the engine harness so everything plugs together. The firewall hole might be an obstacle for the bulkhead connector, and you'll have to cut one for the LM wiring.

Thats what i thought but mine has no bulkhead at the firewall? Its a

87 shadow es TI with map under hood. New shell is 88 es TI

Hmm, haven't worked on an '87 Shadow before, but I have done one in an '88. So does your '87 have a large rubber plug with the wires going through the firewall behind the driver's strut tower?

yes. I also have 2 harnesses here. One is from a TBI aries wagon, has bulk head, used lm/pm setup. And one from a lancer es, has bulkhead, and lm/pm set up.

I am purchasing a vehicle harness off a member and the harness has been converted to TII map under hood. It is from a 87 shadow. I have a lm from TII daytona but my pm was uterly smashed in the accident.(cant even find it)

I guess i could use my dash components if needed from the 87' to make it work in a 88'

Well if it uses the rubber plug instead of the bolt together bulkhead, then it'd just be that much easier. I would at least get some diagrams and look over all the connectors under the dash and see if it all matches up, if you don't want to pull the dash to swap that harness. Really though, a dash harness isn't that much work.

here is the full story BTW.

Heres the story, I bought a 87' shadow from a member, Then the motor decided to start knocking. Decided i was going 2.5 TII and started to gather parts, LM, intercooler, intake, ect. Got a pretty good deal on a 2.5 CB, with TII turbo, ect.

Well just last night the car was totaled pulling onto 819.

Found a 88' es shell, no motor, trans, engine harness, ect.

Well, another member has offered me a complete headlight to taillight 87' harness already converted to TII, and i have all the parts from the 87, minus the drivers front components, relays, pm, ect.

And the 88 has no interior so dash harness would be that much easier

Was it ever determined if an '87 and '88 P body had the same under dash pinouts?

Pbodies have no 50 pin connector. But that being said stick with the 88 harness, SMEC's are plug and play and to go T2 you just have to add the CTS wiring. Much much easier.

I know...I'm asking if the dash pin outs are the same to figure out if my converted 88 P body T-III harness will plug into my '87 CSX dash.

Nope, CSX is junk.... how much? :D

Just look at all the connectors and see if they look the same.

I wasn't really replying to you. Just the guy asking if he had a bulkhead connector.

I have an 88' body harness if you need...:D

I think they are CLOSE...but not exact...

99% of the 88 does NOT swap to the 87 and vice versa....Im finding that out the hard way...lol.

68 k miles, not a spec of rust, never hit, never modified, perfectly reliable to be driven anywhere (and I do!), all Shelby stuff there, typical paint.

Money talks billet boy! :D

I have the 87 and 88 FSM's I can check later on the dash connector pinouts etc. I will put them with the other downloads and post the information when I get it done. This weekend is looking good for being indoors, currently raining, supposed to switch to snow later, anywhere from 1-6 inches. Tomorrow and Monday are supposed to stay well below freezing.

I got them scanned and uploaded. I haven't created the links yet, It is getting late. It looks like the engine to dash harness plugs didn't change from 87 to 88 P bodies. I can't find my 87 wiring section, but was able to get it from my AllData for you.

Uploaded last night, links done now. Go to my site click on files and links and click on it, it will bring a dropdown menu with downloads, go to the 87 P body and 88 P body turbo engine wiring.
Have fun!

I just took a look...some slight differences in the under dash connectors. Not too far off though.
