CSX experts: is that the original battery we are seeing in the pix? wow if it is.

i hope he is careful w/ the car it looks like that front spoiler is 1/2" away from hitting the pavement in the pix.

unless the fluids had been removed for storage, among other things, that motor and other parts will need a lot of replacement stuff I'm going to bet....

That dealer also has a Shelby Lancer, a GLHS Omni, and a 92-93 Iroc R/T (green) still in the plastic.

If I had the cash, I'd buy them all, lol.

I beleieve the green Iroc R/T that they have is the last daytona ever built by chrysler. I have seen pictures of it years back. Plastic on the seats and everything. For some reason I thought I remembered that the cars were driven around the storage yard a couple times a year and then parked again. Either way, I would own any one of them.

If I was to win the lottery, I'd buy all their low mileage cars. Nothing wrong with the price on them, but our community is a broke (ie: poor) one.

No, the last IROC R/T is owned by an SDAC member who also owns a few other rare turbo mopars with practically no miles on them. All sitting in his kitchen and living rooms, as well.

There's a 16K Green Daytona Iroc R/T on autotrader right now for 10K, looks to be a prime example!

Also, a nice Turbo Shadow 'vert and a 55k Turbo 600 'Vert!

"......but our community is a broke (ie: poor) one............"

not entirely true. :-)

their GLHS isnt low mileage, but, the price listed isnt too bad if the car checks out.

on that 89 CSX, the reality is there's been several very, very nice 89 CSX's that are just as nice overall, with odometer readings that might say 9,000 miles, or 15,000 miles, that have been available for a lot less money (ie: less than 10k), this might be the reason why this fantastic 40 mile example cannot quite reach a 20k price at closing......just my theory.

I have written the car dealership in discussion here in the past telling them that someday I will be the one to buy that 89 CSX. The $20k figure is fine with me. I just want to be the first owner on a car that was sold when I was only 4!

Now, this will have to be agreed upon by my wife when the time comes that I am well-off enough to drop that much money on a car that's barely ever going to see much road time! HAHA

It seems that the market for the CSX-VNT's is not there currently when compared to the Omni GLHS's in regards to value/condition.

If I had a bigger garage, I would have to think about it too. Putting that first scratch on it would kill you though. That's the benefit of most of the rest of the cars we have, no worries about one more dent.

Just for giggles -

In terms of 0- 60, or 1/4 mile, or skid pad -what contemporary car compares?

Subaru? Evo? some Honda?

OK, how much will you pay for that contemporary car?

Looks to me like $21K for a new CSX, especially with full warranty too???? - I mean it IS sold by a Dodge dealer, right? is a reasonable deal.

Somebody, please, tell me why I am wrong.

You are wrong because when I spoke with Jim (the owner of the dealership) about this car , he told me that there was no warranty. The car was never sold, but it did get an "in service date" assigned to it and that is the date the warranty started, which is now long gone.

Still though, I did think about purchasing this car myself, but then I realized that I don't have a nice enough facility to store it and keep it pristine. There are probably a lot of people who can afford a 20K car, but very few who can afford a 20K car that they are going to keep as a museum piece. I only hope that someday when this car does sell, that it goes to one of the few and not one of the many.

I am suprised Marcus hasn't picked it up with his knowhow, nice garage, and $$$:thumb:

who me? knowhow? the only knowhow i have on these cars is to have Jonny and Cliff's phone number handy for all my questions.

with mileage this low it would be a shame to drive it at all thats why it wouldnt be a good car for me plus my garage is full maybe someday when i build my dream 4-bay garage out back.

Jonny B: is that the original battery we are seeing under the hood of this CSX?

OK - no warranty. In terms of a comparable performance sub-compact that is out of warranty, what do you have to pay? $15K?

i would assume everything is factory - battery, oils/ fluids, filters, etc...

someone should photograph this car for restoration refference

+1 there! :thumb: Good thinking. I know I will be needing some reference photos down the road.

Went through all my lit and found in the May 1989 Motor Trend engine pic with the battery and it is indeed the same one. Can't say the same for the battery box. Either theres two different ones or the mag cars had a different one. Mag cars probably had different as they also seem to have the 87-88 T2 fresh air side of the airbox.

the battery cover is original also... That looks like an untouched 89 to me. Now if I only had magazines with the 87 CSX in it..
